ELEVATOR SYSTEM
An elevator system is capable of detecting that a car has overshot a position where a limit switch operates. The elevator system includes: a limit switch; a conductive wire provided along a guide rail guiding movement of a counterweight; a contact being attached to the counterweight and moreover configured to come into contact with the conductive wire in a case where the counterweight is disconnected from the guide rail; an overshoot detection contact being attached to the conductive wire and disposed at a position that allows the overshoot detection contact to come into contact with the contact in the case where the car moves past a position where the limit switch operates; and an overshoot detection unit configured to detect that the contact is in contact with the overshoot detection contact.
ELEVATOR COMMUNICATION ARRANGEMENT
Conventionally, elevator communications have been implemented using travelling cables. This is particularly the case when safety related data transmitted from an elevator car has to fulfil real-time restrictions often set by regulators so that the receiving of the information may not be delayed. Typically, this cannot be guaranteed when wireless transmission technologies are used. The reliability can be increased by using a second to supplement the wireless transmission.
ELEVATOR SAFETY DEVICE
An elevator safety device (120) is configured for restricting the movement of an elevator car (106) of an elevator system (102) along its pathway in order to prevent the elevator car (106) from moving beyond at least one limit position. The elevator safety device (120) is configured for performing at least one learning run (220a, 220b) for setting the at least one limit position.
ELEVATOR OVERTRAVEL TESTING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Elevator systems having a first guide rail and a second guide rail, an overtravel feature on at least one of the first or second guide rails, the overtravel feature located a first distance from a top surface of the respective guide rail, an elevator car moveable along the first and second guide rails, the elevator car including a car guidance element, and a control unit configured to perform an overtravel distance test. The control unit is configured to measure a second distance being a distance of travel of the elevator car between a landing position and a location of the overtravel feature, combine the first distance and the second distance to calculate a measured overtravel distance, and compare the measured overtravel distance with a predetermined overtravel setpoint.
Positioning apparatus, elevator and a method for determining the position of an elevator car by using classified position identifiers
A positioning apparatus for an elevator car, an elevator and also a method for determining the position of an elevator car are disclosed. The positioning apparatus for an elevator car includes a plurality of position identifiers possessing a readable physical property, which position identifiers are disposed by the side of the trajectory of the elevator car and also a reader device installed on the elevator car for reading a physical property of the position identifiers. The aforementioned readable physical property of a position identifier is adapted to classify each position identifier according to the intended use of the position identifier into one of two or more optional classes, and in the position identifiers belonging to at least one aforementioned class the same physical property is additionally adapted to indicate the linear position of the elevator car.

Testing apparatus and safety arrangement
The invention relates to a safety arrangement and also a testing apparatus for testing the operation of an extreme limit switch in a conveying system, which can be removed from service on the basis of a signal to be received from the extreme limit switch. The testing apparatus comprises a microprocessor and a memory, in which is recorded a testing program to be run with the microprocessor, which testing program comprises instructions for preventing removal of the conveying system from service occurring on the basis of a signal from an extreme limit switch as well as for testing the operation of the extreme limit switch when removal of the conveying system from service has been prevented.

Elevator switch adapter
An elevator switch adapted that ambidextrously attaches to either side of an emergency elevator off-on-off car safeties switch that biases the switch into the on position while blocking one of the off positions. The elevator car safeties temporarily, electrically limits elevator function in an over-speed situation.
