System For Controlling And Configuration Of An Occupant Evacuation Operation In A Building
A system for controlling and configuration of an occupant evacuation operation (OEO) in a multi-story building has an elevator control system, a fire alarm detection system with a plurality of fire sensor devices, wherein the fire alarm detection system generates fire alarm information signals, and a central control system coupled with the elevator control system and the fire alarm detection system. The central control system has a data processing system with a processor and memory which provide a configurable model of the multi-story building, receive signals from the fire alarm detection system and receive signals and transmit control signals from/to the elevator control system. The configurable model allows configuration of the system creating a model of the functionalities in the multi-story building required for the OEO, and the central control system controls the OEO based on the signals received from the fire alarm detection system and the elevator control system.

A hall destination floor input device for elevators includes an information input receiver provided on a hall of an elevator on a floor set as an evacuation floor in case of an emergency in a building including the elevator. The information input receiver receives information from outside. The device also includes a signal transmitter that transmits a signal to a control system of the elevator, and a controller configured to cause the signal transmitter to transmit a signal indicating a destination floor of the elevator when the information receiver receives input of information on the destination floor if an operation mode is not an emergency mode based on emergency information of the building, and cause the signal transmitter to transmit a signal to open a door of the elevator on the hall when the information input receiver starts receiving input of information if the operation mode is the emergency mode.

A building elevator system including: a building having multiple floors; an elevator system within the building, the elevator system having at least one elevator car; a display located on each floor proximate the elevator system, wherein the display is configured to illuminate evacuation information including an estimated time of arrival of the elevator car and an elevator status; and a control system configured to control the building elevator system and determine the evacuation information to illuminate for each display in response to at least one of a location of the elevator car in the building, a floor location of the display, a speed of the elevator car, a remaining capacity of the elevator car, a number of passengers on each floor, and an evacuation priority of the floor.

A building elevator system including: a building having multiple floors; an elevator system within the building, the elevator system having an elevator car; a control system configured to control the elevator system, the control system determines an estimated time of arrival of the elevator car at a floor; and a fire alarm system within the building and in operative communication with the control system; wherein the control system transmits the estimated time of arrival of the elevator car to the fire alarm system.

Embodiments are directed to a converter configured to supply power to a motor of an elevator, a first power source coupled to the converter and configured to provide input power to the converter, and a second power source selectively coupled to the converter and configured to provide input power to the converter when power from the first power source is unavailable and when an elevator car of the elevator is moving, wherein a speed of the elevator car remains substantially constant when a transition in terms of the input power to the converter is made from the first power source to the second power source.
METHOD FOR USING AN ELEVATOR SYSTEM AND ELEVATOR SYSTEM
The invention relates to a method for using an elevator system in a building having several vertically spaced floors served by an elevator system, particularly by one or more vertically traveling elevator cars of an elevator system, said floors comprising at least a first floor, a second floor, and a plurality of intermediate floors positioned vertically between the first and second floor, the elevator system being configured to have several modes, including at least a normal operating mode and an evacuation operating mode, in which normal operating mode a car of the elevator system is used to serve a first set of floors, and in which evacuation operating mode said elevator car is used to serve a second set of floors different from said first set of floors; the method comprising evacuating passengers from the first floor to the second floor, the evacuating comprising changing the mode of the elevator system from the normal operating mode to the evacuation operating mode; and determining the second set of floors to include the first floor and an intermediate stop floor from amongst the plurality of intermediate floors or a subset thereof; and transporting a load of passengers from the first floor with said elevator car without intermediate stops to said intermediate stop floor; and repeating one or more times said transporting a load of passengers from the first floor; and after one or more of said transporting, transporting passengers from said intermediate stop floor with an elevator car to the second floor. The invention relates also to an elevator system implementing the method.
