The chair may have a folding mechanism that comprises a base body fixed to the carrier, a seat body that is foldably fixed by way of a seat joint to the base body, a leg body that is foldably fixed to the seat body by way of a leg joint, and a footrest body that is foldably fixed to the leg body by way of a footrest joint.

Stairlift overspeed safety system

Systems, apparatuses, and methods are described for a stairlift overspeed safety system are disclosed. The overspeed safety system may include a centripetal cam assembly, a trigger assembly, and a jammer assembly. The centripetal cam assembly may include a spring-loaded plate and a plurality of centripetal cams connected to the spring-loaded plate, configured to move to an extended position when the rail speed exceeds the speed threshold. The trigger assembly may include a trigger plate configured to be pushed by at least one of the centripetal cams when moved to the extended position. Pushing the trigger plate may cause a switch to open to shut off power to the motorized stairlift. The jammer assembly may include a jammer configured to wedge between teeth of a rack and pinion of the motorized stairlift to initiate a deceleration to stop movement of the motorized stairlift.

A lift system comprises a rail (1) and a carriage assembly (2) comprising a seat (21) or platform (21) for supporting a person to be conveyed along the rail (1), drive means arranged to engage the rail (1) and controllable to drive the carriage assembly (2) along the rail (1), energy storage means arranged to power the drive means, input means operable by a user to provide an input signal indicative of a desired movement of the carriage assembly (2) along the rail (1), and control means arranged to receive the input signal and control the drive means in response to the input signal. The system includes charging means arranged to charge the energy storage means when the carriage assembly (2) is at a first charging position on the rail (1). The control means is arranged to monitor at least one voltage (VI, V2) characteristic of the energy storage means and/or at least one operational characteristic of the stair lift, and generate an alert signal in response to one or more of those characteristics, or a difference between one or more of those characteristics, fulfilling a defined criterion, criteria, condition, or conditions.

METHOD TO DETERMINE A SPEED PROFILE FOR A STAIRLIFT
20240286870 · 2024-08-29 · ·

Embodiments described herein are directed to a method to determine a speed profile for a stairlift, wherein the stairlift includes a guide device, a carriage, and user interaction device. The carriage is rotatable around a vertical axle by a first drive. A specific mass moment of inertia for a specific person is determined by measuring a correlation between applied torque and resulting rotational acceleration for the first drive or the specific mass moment of inertia for a specific person is determined by measuring the specific persons weight while the specific person is carried on the carriage. An optimal torque is set according to the specific mass moment of inertia. The speed profile is determined applying at the most the optimal torque with the first drive.

Staircase mobility system

A staircase mobility system is disclosed. The system includes a docking assembly that is configured to dock or undock with a dockable seat assembly. The docking assembly includes support rods configured to engage or disengage with the dockable seat assembly when docked or undocked, respectively. Further, the system includes a drive assembly coupled to the docking assembly. The drive assembly includes a motor that is configured to drive the docking assembly along a guide rail in a forward or reverse direction, and to operate the docking assembly to dock or undock with the dockable seat assembly.

The invention provides a method and apparatus for continuously adjusting the speed of a stairlift in response to a number of operating parameters such as battery voltage and motor current draw. The method preferably further includes monitoring the speed of a reference point on a stairlift chair and comparing this with a maximum permissible speed

Stairlift

A stairlift (12) comprises a carriage (10) moveable along a rail (14) by a drive means (18) and a seat (34) moveably coupled to the carriage. Levelling means are provided for altering the orientation of the seat with respect to the carriage. Further, limiting means (40) are provided for limiting movement of the seat with respect to the carriage so as not to exceed a predetermined angle of inclination of the seat, and comprising locking means (42). When the angle of inclination of the seat reaches the predetermined angle, the limiting means mechanically engages with the seat assembly to prevent further movement of the seat and operates the locking means to secure the seat in position.
