Mosquito breeding prevention device and system
10827743 · 2020-11-10 ·

A device for insertion into an open end of a length of pipe to prevent mosquitoes from entering the pipe is provided. The device includes a piece of flexible foam material having a front face, a rear face and one or more edges joining the front face to the rear face. A plurality of indentions, preferably three, are formed in the front face of the piece of flexible foam material to allow a user to quickly and easily grip the device to insert or remove it from the pipe. The piece of flexible foam material preferably comprises open cell foam sized to permit water to flow through while preventing insects from passing through. The device may be used in connection with a system to prevent mosquitoes from entering into a rain gutter drain extension or a rain barrel system.

Beehive Stand with Rain Protected Moat
20200344981 · 2020-11-05 ·

A beehive stand has a basin which holds liquid such as oil which is covered by a baffle. However, the baffle is spaced apart from the basin such that the basin and baffle have an air gap there-between and are separate from each other. A centrally located vertical pole or support pole rises from the basin through a portal in the baffle and continues upwards to support another object such as a beehive. Multiple such beehive stands can be used to support or be different legs of a beehive, table, cabinet, appliance or other object especially one used outdoors. As there is no direct physical path directly upwards from the ground on which the stand is supported to the object there-above without an air space or oil, this prevents insects from climbing up from the ground to an object supported by the stand.

Insect resistant support

An insect resistant platform with a base assembly having a plurality of vertical posts on an upper surface that support the bottom side of a cover assembly. A sticky pad is on the upper surface of the base assembly with apertures that surround each of the posts. There is a gap between the base assembly and the cover assembly except at the posts. Any crawling insect will become captured by the sticky pad before being able to climb the posts heading toward the cover assembly. The top of the cover assembly is adapted to support an item such as a pet food bowl.

The invention discloses an arthropod and mollusc arrangement, which includes a band having an inner side adapted to be attached to a trunk of a tree; an outer side having a sticky surface and being adapted to trap crawling arthropod and molluscs trying to cross the band; and batting material attached to the inner side and being adapted to fill crevasses on the bark of the trunk of the tree in order to prevent arthropod and molluscs to crawl between the band and the trunk of the tree. The batting material may be adapted to fill the crevasses on the inner side as the band is tensioned when applied around the trunk of the tree. The crevasses may be closed by the batting material, the arthropod and molluscs are forced to cross over the outer side of the band and get trapped in the sticky surface.

Systems and methods for deterring pests from gas turbine inlet air filtration units

An inlet air filtration unit for a gas turbine includes an inlet filter house having an upstream surface through which air is ingested. A plurality of weather hoods is secured to the upstream surface. A wave-generating system is installed on or proximate to the plurality of weather hoods, the wave-generating system emitting waves that deter pests from the inlet filter house. A method of deterring pests from entering an inlet filter house of an inlet air filtration system is also provided. The method includes: installing a wave-generating system proximate to or on a weather hood on an upstream surface of the inlet filter house; and energizing the wave-generating system to produce energy waves across the upstream surface of the inlet filter house.
