Insect barrier

An active barrier to termites and other insects includes a polymeric or paper substrate; and a copper-carbon matrix, wherein the copper-carbon matrix is incorporated into or is coated onto the polymeric or paper substrate. The resulting combination of the substrate and copper-carbon matrix allows for the creation of films, tapes, coated paper and fabric, or molded or formed parts that interfere with and block the passage or entry beyond the barrier of termites or other insects. Uses may be as diverse as but not limited to underlayment(s) for temporary, semi-permanent or permanent structures as well as films and barriers for walls, roofs of permanent, semi-permanent or temporary structures, or interior spaces, cabinets, or vehicles or protecting equipment, telecommunication gear, electronics or other assets that may be impacted, damaged or degraded by termite or other such insect infestation.

A mounting hole is disposed on an outer fabric surface of the elastic mosquito net and corresponding to a rear-view mirror for allowing a neck portion of the rear-view mirror to be inserted through. The mounting hole is provided with a drawstring by which users can operate to make the mounting hole wrap and fit to the neck portion closely for preventing mosquitoes and insects from passing through a gap between the mounting hole and the neck portion and the open front side window and then entering the car. The drawstring can be replaced by a separable connecting member which allows users to adjust a length/area thereof being connected for tight and close fit.

The excluder is made from a mesh that has openings large enough to let both queen and worker bees in and out, but too small to allow the much larger hornets to invade. It has a stepped top, two sides and a bottom that “wrap around” the entrance to a beehive. The stepped top extends the front several inches in front of the opening to the hive to give honeybees a “safe cage”, with adequate room to begin flight and descend after passing through the excluder. In a preferred embodiment, the mesh is between 6 mm and 10 mm on a side.

An ant moat for use with a hummingbird feeder and an ant-resistant hummingbird assembly are provided. The ant moat includes a reservoir body having a base and at least one sidewall that together define a cup or container having a fluid holding region with an open top. The sidewall of the reservoir body includes a water level indicator and an oil level indicator that is positioned above the water level indicator. In use, water is added to the reservoir body up to the water level indicator, and then a layer of oil is added, on top of the water, up to the oil level indicator. The oil acts to prevent the water from evaporating which extends the time period over which the moat can effectively prevent ants from reaching the nectar access apertures in the hummingbird feeder.
