Method for preparing an optimum density termite bait composition
A composition in compacted form for use for termite monitoring and control comprises a cellulose material which may be purified cellulose or micro-crystalline cellulose as a base bait, the composition being compacted to an optimum density of not less than approximately 1.033 g/cc. Also disclosed is a method for monitoring and controlling termite infestations which comprises the steps of a) preparing such a composition; b) placing the composition in a bait station; c) monitoring the station at periodic time intervals for termites; and d) upon observing termite infestation in the bait station, replacing the above composition with a bait composition containing a termite killing agent.
MOUNTING AND POSITIONING DEVICE FOR AN ELECTRONIC SENSOR IN A TERMITE MONITOR
A mounting and positioning device 10 comprises a disc 11 having a termite detection region in the form of a hole 12. The device entices termites to the detection region 12 using termite scaffold as an array of slats 13 made from a termite consumable material fitted around the hole 12 using an array of flanges 14 which frictionally grip the slats. Concentric frangible sections in the form of weakened rings 22, 23, 24 and 25 permit marginal sections of the device to be removed so that it may fit inside different sized termite monitors.
PEST DETECTION USING SENSOR WITH TEXTURED SURFACE
A pest detection device including a capacitive sensor having a plurality of traces that can be capacitively sensed using self-capacitance or mutual capacitance measurements. The sensor including conductive shield traces to facilitate a number of sensing applications. The sensor including a coated portion to facilitate crawling of pests over the sensing area of the circuit board.
Pest control spray
The present disclosure relates to arthropod pest control sprays and methods of using such sprays to control arthropod pests.
Selective detection of bed bugs pheromones
A device, system, and method of controlling pests are disclosed. A pest control device includes a sensor having a sensor cell and a controller. A surface of the sensor cell is coated with an agent that reacts with a targeted biochemical analyte secreted by pests. The controller is coupled to the sensor and is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor cell indicative of a rate of change in sensor mass detected on the surface of the sensor cell, determine whether the rate of change in the sensor mass based on the received sensor data exceeds a predefined threshold rate, and transmit a pest detection alert notification to a server in response to a determination that the rate of change exceeds the predetermined threshold rate.
Autodissemination of an insect-growth regulator for insect management
The described invention provides a gel formulation of a composition comprising at least one insecticide in an amount effective to control an insect larval population, an apparatus for autodissmenination of an insecticide for insect management containing (1) a reservoir (2) a transfer plate and cover, and (3) a mesh component, a method and a system for autodissemination for effectively controlling an insect larval population. Also disclosed is an improvided biphasic autodissemination station for control of undesirable insect populations.
INSECT VACUUM AND TRAP ATTACHMENT SYSTEMS
An insect vacuum and trap attachment system can include a tubular member having an elongate channel that extends along an outer surface of the tubular member. The system can also include a suction member that slideably receives the tubular member. The suction member can have a narrowed open tip that receives insects and a stem that extends along at least an outer surface of the suction member. The stem can be slideably received by the elongate channel to enable the suction member to slide with respect to the tubular member. The system can include a catch that protrudes from the stem. The catch may be arranged and configured to receive a portion of an insect filter pod and thereby couple the insect filter pod between the tubular member and the suction member.
Pest control system and method
A system and method of monitoring and controlling cellulose-consuming pests in a predetermined location with existing wells formed in the ground, provides for the use of an assembly that has a main body with a transverse upper lip, a flexible resilient sealing member fitted underside the lip in a surrounding relationship to the main body, and tightening bolts extending through the lip and the sealing member. When torque is applied to the tightening bolts, the sealing member is then compressed, causing it to expand horizontally and engage the interior walls of the existing well by sealing same. The main body is configured to removably receive one or more bait unit therein. A cap covering an open top of the main body covers the bait units when the system is positioned in the well.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR COUNTING BIRD PARASITES
A method for counting bird parasites (22) by capturing an image of a target area (20) that the parasites are expected to cross, and using image recognition techniques for discerning the parasites, characterized in that the target area (20) is a portion of a substrate (12) on which birds (10) are kept and which has a topography with low time variation, and the method comprises a step of counting incidents of temporary local disturbance of the topography of the target area.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETERRING PEST WITH A LASER BEAM
An apparatus for automatically deterring pest with a light projection on the ground that is perceived as a predator by pests such as birds, which triggers a fear reaction from the birds to leave the area. The apparatus is designed to project a large beam of more than 60 mm diameter in visible light with sufficient power to be seen during daylight. The apparatus is adapted to pan and tilt continuously and randomly within specified limits that are programmed to project the beam in various areas and protect the areas from birds. The apparatus relies on a robotic arm or orientable support mounted on a frame that can be displaced or repositioned easily thanks to a forklift. Methods for activating and controlling the apparatus are also provided.
