System of home improvement devices in communication over a low power wide area network
A sensor system for detecting objects includes a plurality of devices and a network assembly. The plurality of device assemblies includes an object detector assembly, a termite trap assembly, and a pest trap assembly. The object detector assembly includes a device implemented along the outer perimeter of a house in order to detect various objects. Additionally, the termite trap assembly includes a cardboard cutout with a high cellulose content having conductive ink. Furthermore, the pest trap assembly includes a housing having a trap door that is used to capture pests such as rodents and mice. Each of the devices are in communication with the network assembly via a low power wide area network. Each of the devices may also act as a repeater thereby further extending the range of communication for each of the devices.
Spider and insect trap with lure compartment
A glue board trap for insects and spiders is provided that includes a reusable housing, a replaceable glue board, and a reusable lure compartment that is mounted to the housing. The lure compartment contains a water-based lure solution for attracting crawling pests that can be replaced as needed.
PEST DETECTION USING SENSOR WITH TEXTURED SURFACE
A pest detection device including a capacitive sensor having a plurality of traces that can be capacitively sensed using self-capacitance or mutual capacitance measurements. The sensor including conductive shield traces to facilitate a number of sensing applications. The sensor including a coated portion to facilitate crawling of pests over the sensing area of the circuit board.
Device for Humanely Catching and Releasing Flying and Crawling Insects
This device for humanely catching and releasing flying and crawling insects is a lightweight, handheld tool to capture an insect on a flat surface inside the home without getting too close to it and releasing it outside unharmed. The container is clear and transparent to easily confirm that the insect is inside. Once the insect is captured, turning the control knob on the handle rotates the cover to secure the container. There are three small spacers on the bottom of the container, which allow the cover to be closed and latched without having to move the container and without injuring the insect. The self-aligning latch mechanism ensures that once closed, the cover will not open inadvertently while transporting the captive insect. Once the insect has been carried outside, the control knob on the end of the handle is turned to open the cover and release the insect unharmed.
Composition to promote migration of acarids
The current invention concerns an aqueous synergistic solution for promoting non-lethal migration of acarids from their habitat towards a carrier comprising an attractant for the attraction of acarids, wherein said attractant is limonene, one or more attraction enhancers chosen from the group citronellal, linalool, geranyl acetate, caryophyllene, caryophyllene oxide and/or neryl acetate, and an emulsifier, preferably polysorbate. The current invention also concerns a method for attracting and holding acarids, comprising of the steps: providing a sheet having interstices sufficiently large and a thickness sufficiently large to hold acarids; and applying on said sheet the aqueous synergistic solution in a non-lethal dose per area. The synergistic solution promotes migration of acarids from their habitat into said sheet, after which the sheet can be disposed or the acarids removed therefrom.
BIPOLAR ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR WITH DOUBLE MECHANICAL CLAMPING ON CONDUCTIVE TAPE
Disclosed is an electrical repellent device comprising an electric generator (50) connected via its two terminals to a conductive composite tape (3) around an object to be protected and connecting the electric generator (50) and the conductive composite tape (3), the connector being characterized in that it comprises: support (1) made from metal material or insulating polymer; and at least two rods (15) mounted on the support (1) and each comprising, on their outer surface, at least one conductive element (20); and a pressure component keeping the at least one conductive element (20) in contact with at least one conductive strip (31) or the composite tape (3); and two connection terminals configured to apply the potential difference that exists between the two terminals of the electric generator (50) and the conductive elements.
Selective detection of bed bugs
A device, system, and method of controlling pests are disclosed. A pest control device includes a sensor having a sensor cell and a controller. A surface of the sensor cell is coated with an agent that reacts with a targeted biochemical analyte secreted by pests. The controller is coupled to the sensor and is configured to receive sensor data from the sensor cell indicative of a rate of change in sensor mass detected on the surface of the sensor cell, determine whether the rate of change in the sensor mass based on the received sensor data exceeds a predefined threshold rate, and transmit a pest detection alert notification to a server in response to a determination that the rate of change exceeds the predetermined threshold rate.
SYSTEM FOR ERADICATING FIRE ANTS AND OTHER INSECTS
A system for exterminating insects includes a housing, a fluid-heating assembly housed within the housing that includes one or more fuel reserves, one or more burners that receive fuel from the one or more fuel reserves, and a heat exchanger defining a sinuous flow path positioned to receive heat from the one or more burners, a fluid inlet line coupled to the housing and fluidly connectable to a residential hose bib, the fluid inlet line fluidly coupled to the sinuous flow path of the heat exchanger, such that fluid is directed from the fluid inlet line directly to the sinuous flow path of the heat exchanger, and a fluid outlet line coupled to the housing and fluidly coupled to the sinuous flow path of the heat exchanger such that fluid is directed from the sinuous flow path of the heat exchanger directly through the fluid outlet line.
Method and Apparatus for Asphyxiating Arthropods
The present invention is about turning the gaseous envelope that encoats, protects certain arthropods from their external environment against them. It teaches to apply radiation to the arthropods body in order to dysfunction the exacting geometry needed to maintain this protective envelope. This absorbed radiation thus makes the arthropod vulnerable to pesticides and other chemical agents. It also interferes with the arthropods ability to adequately breathe through their plastron covering by forcing it to increase its rate of metabolism via this absorbed radiation.
Surfaces coated with high viscosity index petroleum based gel and methods for use as a barrier to crawling insects
Means and methods for preventing crawling insects from infesting a site where food, water, or garbage is located. In particular, this relates to creating a non-poisonous barrier in the path of the insects by coating a surface with a layer of high viscosity index petroleum based gel (HVIP-gel). One embodiment is an insect deterrent cup that is comprised of an inverted (upside down) cup whose inner surface is coated with a layer of PetrolGel. The insect deterrent cup is positioned between the food site and the crawling insects, blocking their path. This prevents crawling insects from accessing the food, water, or garbage.
