Provided is a crane (1) including: a boom (7); a wire rope (8); a winch (9); and a hook (10). The crane further includes: a spooling operation instrument (24) for enabling commanding an operation state of the winch (9); and switches (switch (41) or switch (42)) for enabling commanding a switch of a control mode with regard to the operation of the spooling operation instrument (24). When the boom (7) is in a flat travel orientation with the hook (10) loaded on a prescribed site (hook platform (12)), the switches ((41), (42)) being in an on state and the spooling operation instrument (24) being operated toward one side thereof cause the boom (7) to be raised to a work orientation while the wire rope (8) is unwound such that the hook (10) is not lifted.

Telehandler boom extension monitoring system
10875753 · 2020-12-29 · ·

A boom extension monitoring system is provided that uses a combination of sensors to determine an absolute location and a relative location of the boom. As the boom extends or retracts, the monitoring system can determine the absolute location of the boom as the sum of the absolute at relative distances. These distances can be obtained through a combination of a grid, low-resolution sensors, high-resolution sensors, counters, processors, and other components according to various embodiments described herein. A process to obtain the total boom extension of multiple telescoping beams by monitoring the extension of a single beam element is also described.

Crane

Provided is a crane capable of allowing an operator to recognize an error in work information or in a number of windings set in a safety device. A main tension of a main wire rope is calculated from a main output torque of a main winch, a sub output torque of a sub winch, a main drum winding radius of the main winch, and a sub drum winding radius of the sub winch. An estimated hanging load, which is calculated from the main tension, a sub tension of a sub wire rope and the number of windings of the wire rope set in a safety device, is compared with an actual hanging load calculated from fluctuating thrust force and boom information. Thus, the suitability of a work kind or a winding number set in the safety device is determined.

This overload preventing device is mounted on a mobile work machine, and is provided with: a storage unit which stores lifting performance data; and a work machine control unit which controls operation of the mobile work machine on the basis of the actual load and the lifting performance corresponding to the present operation state of the mobile work machine. A third lifting performance configured for a transition region, a first switching angle defining the boundary between the front region and the side region and the boundary between the back region and the side region when the outriggers are in different states of deployment, and a second switching region defining a transition region in the side region are configured on the basis of stability calculations and strength factors such as jack strength.

METHOD FOR TRACKING LIFTING EVENTS AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE
20200386605 · 2020-12-10 ·

One variation of a method for monitoring lift events at a construction site includes: deriving a lifting profile from a first timeseries of load values, output by a load sensor coupled to a crane hook, during a first time period; deriving an oscillation characteristic from a first timeseries of motion values, output by a motion sensor coupled to the crane hook, during the first time period; identifying a type of an object carried by the crane hook during the first time period based on the lifting profile and the oscillation characteristic; selecting a load handling specification for the object based on the type of the object; accessing a second timeseries of motion values output by the motion sensor during a second time period; and, in response to the second timeseries of motion values deviating from the load handling specification, activating an object motion alarm for the object.
