CRANE AND CONTROL METHOD THEREFOR

Disclosed are a crane and a control method therefor. The crane comprises a body, a boom, a luffing mechanism, a tension sensor, and a controller. One end of the boom is rotatably connected with the body. The luffing mechanism is respectively connected to the body and the boom. The tension sensor is disposed on the luffing mechanism, and the tension sensor is used for detecting a tension value of the luffing mechanism to the boom. The controller is electrically connected to the tension sensor and the luffing mechanism, and the controller is configured to determine that the arm length of the boom exceeds an arm length threshold if the tension value is greater than a tension threshold.

Camera-assisted crane safety

Aspects of this disclosure relate to a system that uses images of a load handled by a crane as captured by cameras to monitor the load. The images may include different sets of outer perimeters of the load. The system may identify the outer perimeters and then define a safety zone that extends beyond these outer perimeters. In response to identifying an object within the safety zone, the system may execute a remedial action.

METHOD FOR TRACKING LIFTING EVENTS AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE
20220404189 · 2022-12-22 ·

One variation of a method for monitoring lift events at a construction site includes: deriving a lifting profile from a first timeseries of load values, output by a load sensor coupled to a crane hook, during a first time period; deriving an oscillation characteristic from a first timeseries of motion values, output by a motion sensor coupled to the crane hook, during the first time period; identifying a type of an object carried by the crane hook during the first time period based on the lifting profile and the oscillation characteristic; selecting a load handling specification for the object based on the type of the object; accessing a second timeseries of motion values output by the motion sensor during a second time period; and, in response to the second timeseries of motion values deviating from the load handling specification, activating an object motion alarm for the object.

Tower crane with a detection of a rotating part autorotation or oscillation state in an out of service configuration
11560293 · 2023-01-24 · ·

A tower crane includes a tower on which a rotating portion is pivotally mounted and configurable between a service configuration in which the rotating portion can be rotatably driven by a motorized orientation system, and an out of service configuration in which the rotating portion is rotatably released to be able to be oriented in the direction of the wind. A control/command unit activates a monitoring mode in the out of service configuration to detect, depending on variations in the angle of orientation or the angular speed of the rotating portion, if the rotating portion is in one of the following movement states: an autorotation state corresponding to a rotary movement of the rotating portion in a given direction over at least one complete turn; or an oscillation state corresponding to a back and forth movement of the rotating portion about the orientation axis.

Load moment indicator system and method

A method for determining stability of a vehicle having a load suspended from the vehicle is provided. The method can include obtaining measurements from a plurality of sensors positioned on the vehicle, obtaining a measurement from a vehicle accelerometer operative to determine an inclination of the vehicle, determining a position of the load suspended from the vehicle, determining a slung load of the load suspended from the vehicle, using the determined slung load and the determined position of the load suspended from the vehicle, determining tipping moments acting on the vehicle, determining righting moments acting on the vehicle and determining a tipping stability based on the determined tipping moments and determined righting moments.

METHOD FOR OPERATING A VEHICLE CRANE

A method for operating a vehicle crane having a lower chassis with boom supports and having an upper chassis with a counterweight in which a live view of the surroundings of the vehicle crane is displayed to the driver. To provide a possibility of operating the vehicle crane that permits safe and simplified manuvering and use, the live view is created at least by way of cameras arranged on the lower chassis, markings indicating the movement ranges of the boom supports and the pivot range of the upper chassis are superimposed to scale on the live view, where the markings are hard-programmed crane-specific overlays and the live view is a crane-specific view that is calibrated with regard to dimensions.

Crane
