Wedge-style line clamp
10807842 · 2020-10-20 · ·

A device and method for retaining a line on a drum is disclosed. The drum has a slot which extends from a point along the periphery and into the drum in a first direction and at an acute angle relative to a tangent at the point. A clamp is provided with a slot portion and a line retaining portion. The slot portion is engaged with the slot such that relative movement between the clamp and the drum causes the slot portion to move in the first direction. As tension is applied to the line, a first force is created on the slot member in the first direction, resulting in a second force being applied by the line retaining portion in the first direction, clamping the portion of the line against the drum.

A lifting apparatus for a highly-mounted device includes a main body installed at a predetermined height so that a drum for winding a wire rope and a first driving motor for giving a rotating force to the drum are installed thereto; a lifting body suspended from the wire rope and having a device coupling portion provided at a lower end thereof; an accommodation structure located at a lower portion of the main body and having an open lower portion so as to be coupled with the lifting body; a stopper installed at the accommodation structure and caught by a suspending protrusion provided to the lifting body to give an anti-falling function for the lifting body; and an upper contact point and a lower contact point respectively installed at the main body and the lifting body to make contact with each other when the lifting body is moved up.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AERIAL CORD RELEASE MECHANISMS

A method for passive aerial cord release mechanisms and an aerial cord release mechanism for an aerial vehicle (AV). A method includes determining a retracting force to be applied to a winch of an aerial vehicle (AV), wherein the determined retracting force is a force required to retract a cord to be coiled around the winch within the AV, and the cord is temporarily coupled to the winch, such that an external force exceeding a predetermined threshold causes decoupling between the cord and the winch.

Disclosed is a control method of a lifting apparatus for a highly-mounted device. The control method includes (a) outputting a descending signal in a state where the main body and the lifting body are coupled; (b) determining whether the lifting body is normally released downward from the main body according to the descending signal; and (c) stopping the driving motor or executing the step (a) again when the lifting body is not normally released downward, wherein in the step (b), it is determined whether the lifting body is normally released downward from the main body by checking whether a weight of the lifting body is applied to the wire rope.

Spool for winch actuator

A spool assembly and method of use is disclosed having generally a first and a second mating portions which can mate along a longitudinal axis of the spool to retain a belt therein. The mating surfaces of the first and second mating portions can take a variety of geometries or splines which can efficiently retain the belt while maintaining a suitable transmission ratio. In an exemplary embodiment, the spool exit curve for the retained belt can be radially inward of a majority of the spool to reduce the overall diameter of the spool. In some exemplary embodiments, the spool can be mounted within a motor and rotated thereby to spool and unspool the belt.

Controlled translation method of affixing a termination to a multi-stranded tensile member

A method for creating a termination by attaching some kind of fitting to the end of a tensile member such as a cable. The end fitting is provided with one or more internal cavities. Each cavity has a proximal portion that is adjacent to the area where the tensile member exits the fitting and a distal portion on its opposite end. A length of the tensile member's filaments is placed within this expanding cavity and infused with liquid potting compound. The method exploits the characteristic of a liquid potting compound as it transitions to a solid. During the solidification process tension is applied. The resulting linear displacement tends to pull the filaments residing in the potting compound into better alignment and improve load sharing.
