Brake and an elevator
09862569 · 2018-01-09 · ·

A brake comprising a frame, a braking member mounted on the frame movably between braking position and released position, and a rotatable lever mounted on the frame, the lever being functionally connected to the braking member such that movement of the lever axially away from frame moves the braking member towards released position. At least one cylindrical roller is mounted on one of the brake frame and lever, to be positioned between the brake frame and the lever, and the other of the brake frame and lever comprises a recess for receiving said cylindrical roller, and in that rotation of the lever is configured to cause said cylindrical roller to roll outwards from the recess along an edge portion of the recess forcing the lever to move axially away from the frame, thereby causing the braking member to move towards released position.

In a braking apparatus, a buffering member that is formed using a flexible material is disposed between a fixed portion and a movable portion. An accommodating recess portion that accommodates and holds the buffering member is disposed on a buffering member holding portion that includes at least one of the fixed portion and the movable portion. An opening portion that communicates with an external portion of the buffering member holding portion is disposed on a portion of a side surface of the accommodating recess portion. The buffering member is removable from and insertable into the accommodating recess portion through the opening portion from a direction that is perpendicular to a direction of displacement of the movable portion.

BRAKING SYSTEM FOR A DRAW WORKS USED FOR DRILLING OPERATIONS
20170050827 · 2017-02-23 ·

A braking system may include a brake assembly having a brake shaft and a brake lever coupled to the brake shaft. The system may also include a brake cylinder having a first chamber, a second chamber, a piston positioned between the chambers and a piston rod extending outwardly from the piston. The piston rod may be configured to be coupled to the brake shaft such that movement of the piston rod results in rotation of the brake shaft. In addition, the system may include a first valve configured to control a supply of working fluid to the first chamber and a second valve configured to control a supply of the working fluid to the second chamber. By adjusting a position of the first valve and/or the second valve, a braking force applied between the brake assembly and a drum of the draw works may be controlled.
