METHODS OF USING A COLLOIDAL SILVER-BASED COMPOSITION IN REDUCING OR PREVENTING MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION IN PLANTS OR EXPLANTS IN TISSUE CULTURE PROCESSES

This disclosure provides methods of using an eco-friendly colloidal silver-based composition in preventing and reducing contamination caused by microorganisms in the plant tissue culture processes. The composition comprises colloidal silver, a copolymer, surfactant, a base, and water. The methods allow cultivating plants or explants in a plant tissue culture medium under non-aseptic conditions and thus obviate the need of the cumbersome and laborious procedures to sterilize the culture medium and the culture vessel in order to create aseptic conditions for plant or explant cultivation.

Vespidae wasp repellent

The objective of the present invention is to provide a repellent which has a selectivity. Specifically, the repellent does not cause damage to an Apidae bee but suppresses the aggression of a Vespidae wasp and prevents a Vespidae wasp from coming close and building a nest. Also, the objective of the present invention is to provide a method for repelling a Vespidae wasp. The Vespidae wasp repellent according to the present invention is characterized in comprising a compound represented by the following formula (I) as an active component: ##STR00001##
wherein R.sup.1 is hydrogen atom or the like, X is a C.sub.1-4 alkylene group or the like, α is a substituent, n is an integer of 0 or more and 5 or less.

Liquid spreading composition with ectoparasiticidal activity, a method and use thereof for combating ectoparasites in human and veterinary medicine, as well as in agricultural, horticultural and/or garden environments

The present invention relates to a liquid spreading composition with ectoparasiticidal activity. The invention also relates to a method and use of such a liquid spreading composition for combating ectoparasites in human and veterinary medicine, as well as in agricultural, horticultural and/or garden environments. The composition comprises at least one emollient ester and isohexadecane, wherein the weight ratio of said at least one emollient ester to isohexadecane is within 1:9 to 7:3. The invention improves the spreading properties of a composition enabling it for an efficient delivery of an active substance or substances over the surface of the host on which it is applied. The spreading composition may also be used alone for an efficient ectoparasiticidal treatment in human and veterinary medicine, as well as for combating ectoparasites in agricultural, horticultural and/or garden environments. With at least one additional agent the spreading composition may also be used in cosmetic, as well as for pest control, including insect and rodent control.
