Agents and methods of treatment

Agents and formulations and cells including plant extracts are useful in a method for controlling pathogen infestation in human and animal subjects. A method for inhibiting growth or infestation of a pathogen in or on a human or animal subject, includes contacting the pathogen with an effective amount of a combination of a plant defensin or a functional natural or synthetic derivative or variant thereof and either: (i) a proteinase inhibitor; or (ii) a chemical pathogenicidic or pathogenostatic agent; in a combined amount effective to inhibit growth or infestation of the pathogen.

COMPOSITIONS AND METHODS COMPRISING A TRIARYL POLYAMINE

Compounds, compositions, and methods comprising a polyamine compound are described, which may be used to kill, disperse, treat, or reduce biofilms, or to inhibit or substantially prevent biofilm formation. In some aspects, the present invention relates to polyamine compounds that have antimicrobial or dispersing activity against a variety of bacterial strains capable of forming biofilms. In some aspects, the present invention relates to compositions and methods comprising the polyamine compound. In some aspects, the compounds, compositions, and methods enhance wound healing.

TRIAMINE SOLIDIFICATION USING DIACIDS

Stable, solid triamine compositions are disclosed. The pressed, cast, extruded or other solid compositions are suitable for antimicrobial, sanitizing and disinfectant applications. Ready-to-use solutions are obtained by dissolving the solid triamine compositions with water and the methods of use thereof are particularly suitable for cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing, rinsing and/or lubricating. Beneficially, the solid triamine compositions are at least partially neutralized, allowing activity of 90% and greater of the biocidal triamine, and provide at least substantially similar or superior performance and micro efficacy to liquid formulations.

Coatings for Materials

A textile includes a substrate and a coating applied to a surface of the substrate. The coating includes a plurality of bilayers positioned one on top of the other. Each bilayer includes a first layer including a cationic polymer and a second layer comprising an anionic polymer. The cationic polymer in the first layer includes a polyethyleneimine (PEI), a poly(vinyl amine) (PVAm), a poly(allyl amine) (PAAm), a polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride (PDDA), or a chitosan (CH). The anionic polymer in the second layer includes a poly(acrylic acid) (PAA), a poly(styrene sulfonate) (PSS), a poly(methacrylic acid) (PMAA), a poly(sodium phosphate) (PSP), or a poly(vinyl sulfate) (PVS).
