LOW VOLATILITY HERBICIDAL COMPOSITIONS

The present invention relates generally low volatility herbicidal compositions comprising at least one auxin herbicide and at least one monocarboxylic acid, or monocarboxylate thereof. The invention further relates generally to methods for preparing and using such low volatility herbicidal compositions, including methods for controlling auxin-susceptible plant growth on agricultural and non-agricultural lands.

The invention further relates generally to methods for preparing and using such low volatility herbicidal compositions, including methods for controlling auxin-susceptible plant growth on agricultural and non-agricultural lands.

ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION

An antimicrobial composition is provided that comprises about 10.0 to about 40.0 wt. % of one or more C.sub.1-8 alcohols, based on the total weight of the antimicrobial composition; and two or more of a surfactant; an enhancer; and a buffer. The pH of the composition is less than or equal to about 6.0 and the composition achieves a microbial log reduction of greater than 4.0 log CFU/ml at a contact time of 1 minute, in accordance ASTM E2783.

ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITION

An antimicrobial composition is provided that comprises about 10.0 to about 40.0 wt. % of one or more C.sub.1-8 alcohols, based on the total weight of the antimicrobial composition; and two or more of a surfactant; an enhancer; and a buffer. The pH of the composition is less than or equal to about 6.0 and the composition achieves a microbial log reduction of greater than 4.0 log CFU/ml at a contact time of 1 minute, in accordance ASTM E2783.

ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITIONS WITH 1,2-ALKANEDIOLS

Compositions including a quaternary amine antiseptic component having a concentration of at least about 0.04% by weight; a poly carboxylic acid chelator having a concentration of at least about 0.05 M and/or an alphahydroxy acid buffer having a concentration of at least about 0.05 M; a (C8-C12) 1,2 alkane diol; and optionally water are provided. The compositions have a pH greater than or equal to 3.5 and less than 5.5 at 23° C. In certain embodiments, water is present in the composition at a greater weight percent than each of the quaternary amine antiseptic component; the polycarboxylic acid chelator, if present; the alphahydroxy acid buffer, if present; and the (C8-C12) 1,2-alkane diol. In certain embodiments, water is present in the composition at a greater weight percent than any other component.

Described herein are antimicrobial copolymers comprising (i) a polymer backbone and a plurality of thiouronium groups covalently bonded to the polymer backbone and (ii) a plurality of quaternary ammonium groups covalently bonded to the polymer backbone. Also described herein are methods for making the copolymers described herein and their use in disinfecting compositions.
