A liquid dispensing system is disclosed. The liquid system includes a housing, a vessel fluidly connected to the housing and containing a liquid, a preservation subsystem positioned within the housing and in fluid communication with the vessel and a liquid outlet operably connected to the housing and in fluid communication with the vessel. In operation, the preservation subsystem reduces oxidization of the fluid within the vessel, while allowing the fluid to be dispensed through the liquid outlet.

Methods and apparatus describing a convenience beverage vending machine and its operation are described. An embedded computer interface allows consumers to create their own drinks or choose from a menu of drinks. Drinks are dispensed in a container. The beverages may be made from hot water, cold water or carbonated water that is mixed with various flavors of syrup, sweeteners and nutritional supplements. Identification may be presented and the computer recognizes the consumer and pulls up that consumer's account to determine funds available and previous drink selections and mixtures. The machine may incorporate an automatic cleaning cycle for both the valves and the dispense area.

Additives are introduced into the hydration device via closed vessels equipped with RFID tags or similar, capable of transferring data about the vessels' contents to the device. Dispensing is adjustable by contextual factors such as a user's preferences, location, activity, physiologic status, and the like, obtained via APIs to third party applications or through more direct measurements or inputs. Consumption of additives and consumable liquids in the container is measured and monitored, and the data used to generate recommendations.
