THERAPEUTIC COMPOSITION AND RELATED METHODS

A composition. The composition includes a compound of Formula (I) HOCH.sub.2—(═CHOH═).sub.n—CH2NR.sup.1R.sup.2 (I) wherein R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are independently selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, C(O)R.sup.3, and SO.sub.2R.sup.4, wherein at least one of R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is C(O)R.sup.3 or SO.sub.2R.sup.4, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having seven carbon atoms, an alkyl group having eight carbon atoms, and an alkyl group having nine carbon atoms, and n is an integer from about 2 to about wherein a concentration of the compound of Formula (I) is more than its critical micelle concentration; and an antimicrobial agent selected from the group consisting of a biguanide antimicrobial agent and a polymeric, cationic, non-micelle forming antimicrobial material; wherein a concentration of the antimicrobial agent is no more than 5 wt %.

An antimicrobial and/or antiviral polymer is provided. The polymer is a modified polymer of a precursor polymer that comprises nitrogen atoms. The precursor polymer is modified into the antimicrobial and/or antiviral polymer of the present invention by substituting at least part of the nitrogen atoms with a (C.sub.1-C.sub.20) alkyl group and quaternizing at least part of the substituted nitrogen atoms. Such antimicrobial and/or antiviral polymers bind strongly and non-covalently to surfaces, rendering the surface antimicrobial and/or antiviral.

The current invention concerns a synergistically effective fungicide composition comprising as component (A) a fungicidally active amount of choline phosphonate and as component (B) at least one additional fungicide selected from the group comprising quinone fungicides, succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors, benzamide fungicides, sulphur fungicides, carboxylic acid amide fungicides, demethylation inhibitor fungicides, phenylamide fungicides, copper fungicides, piperidinyl thiazole isoxazoline fungicides and sugar alcohols, wherein a weight ratio of components (A) and (B) is in a range from 1:1000 to 1000:1.

The invention further concerns a kit a use of a fungicide composition according to the invention in an amount effective for controlling one or more types of fungal infections by applying the fungicide composition to the fungal infections.
