Shark barrier

A shark barrier includes a plurality of resiliently flexible, elongate members that extend in a generally upright condition between a sea floor and a sea surface. The elongate members are arranged so as to have the appearance of a thicket, preferably a kelp forest, when viewed from within the water and include magnets to assist in deterring certain shark species. The elongate members may be secured to the sea floor by an anchoring base and are held in the generally upright condition by a buoy or buoyant material held within the elongate members.

Integrated fish diversion system, and lighting device used therein

Described are various embodiments of an integrated fish diversion system, and lighting device used therein. One embodiment provides a system for diverting approaching fish from a predominant water flow path and toward a bypass. The system comprises a structural diversion assembly to be disposed across the predominant water flow path to guide the approaching fish along the structural diversion assembly to the bypass, while allowing passage of water through the structural diversion assembly along the predominant water flow path. The system further comprises one or more lighting devices to be cooperatively disposed in relation to the structural diversion assembly to further guide the approaching fish toward the bypass; and a controller operatively coupleable to the one or more lighting devices and operable to select an output spectrum thereof to optimize fish guidance thereby.

Apparatus for Rejection / Control of Pests for Areas, and the Use Thereof
20180070556 · 2018-03-15 ·

It is disclosed a device for controlling and/or euthanizing vermin or pests for preventing such vermin or pests from entering into a geographical area or into a building, wherein the device comprises at least one completely or partially uninsulated electrically conducting wire or conductor connected to an electrical current source, providing controlled electrical pulses to said conductor or wire in the form of pulses or pulse trains. The device may be used in a method for controlling the access of pests/vermin to a geographical location, building or property wherein the electrically conducting wire(s) lead(s) an electrical current with an amperage of not less than 0.0001 A. The device and method is particularly suited for removing/controlling pests/vermin on land.

Acoustic device for forming a wall of sound underwater
20180033423 · 2018-02-01 ·

An acoustic device for forming a wall of sound underwater. Walls of sound are useful in water for guiding fish away from areas. Hitherto, systems have used bubbles of water to facilitate the speed of travel of the sound. Those systems have suffered from the ability to maintain a consistent wall of bubbles and have often been inefficient. The present invention seeks to provide an acoustic device for forming a wall of sound underwater and comprises a transducer connected to an acoustic waveguide. The waveguide comprises one or more projections, whereby sound generated by the transducer travels along the projection or projections to form the wall of sound. The waveguide may typically comprise compressible projections formed from neoprene. These projections are arranged in a fan or frond shape. In addition or alternatively, the projections may be laminar. The projections could be of different lengths.

Geofenced autonomous aquatic drone
12167724 · 2024-12-17 ·

A geofenced autonomous aquatic drone for repelling sharks from a shoreline. The drone employs a buoyant housing resembling a portion of a predator such as an orca whale. A battery positioned within the drone is recharged through a floating inductive charging station. A transmitter unit coupled to at least one under water transducer introduces certain sounds, such as reproduction of orca whale or dolphin calling sounds. A propulsion system controlled a microprocessor receives location information via DGPS for providing a geofence around an area to be patrolled. The drone travels within the geofence area, monitored by the DGPS receiver, while said transducer produces certain sounds and or a solution of shark repellant is dispensed.
