The flushing section tapers from a first end to a second end. The turbine section tapers from a first end to a second end and has turbine blades arranged on the outside. The first end of the flushing section is connected to the first end of the turbine section at a transition position (21). An outside of the flushing element forms a cylindrical restriction at the transition position so that the part of the cylindrical filter wall of the filter candle extending at the turbine section may be backflushed by means of fluid also driving the turbine.

The apparatus includes a body, and filtering units connected to each other to form a packaged structure in the body. Each filtering unit includes a filter filtering ballast water, and an automatic washing unit backwashing the filter. The apparatus further includes a first pressure sensor measuring the pressure in space between the body and the filters, and a second pressure sensor installed on each of some of the filtering units to measure the pressure in the filter of the corresponding filtering unit. When a difference between pressures measured by the first and second pressure sensors exceeds a predetermined range, the automatic washing units of all of the filtering units are simultaneously operated.

Innovative self cleaning filter mechanism

The filtering system comprises an inner flow or an outer flow, a shaft, a backwash outlet, a backwash valve, a volume separator rotating disk containing a backwash hole located between the insert and back wash outlet, and a filter cleaning mechanism enabling the cleaning of the dirt particles generated on the filter insert without opening the filter cover. The filtering system contains at least two flow cross-section reducing plates, realizing the speedy passage of the liquid in the insert through the plurality of gaps providing a plurality of reduced flow cross-sections created between the flow cross-section reducing plates and the surface of the insert. A pressure drop is generated during the speedy passage of a liquid through the plurality of gaps. The surface of the insert is cleaned with the passage of the liquid from outside of the insert to the inside of the insert or vice versa.
