RATE/KINETIC SELECTIVE MULTIPLE BED ADSORPTION PROCESS CYCLE
The present invention is directed to an intensified process cycle that utilizes the adsorption beds present to a substantially greater degree allowing the processing of significantly more gas and/or the generation of significantly more product. The elimination of purge steps, reduction in equalization step times, and introduction of overlapping feed and equalization steps which normally cause a degradation in performance for equilibrium-based cycles, frees extra step for other actions to be taken, such as additional equalization steps, etc.
CHARACTERISTICS OF TUNABLE ADSORBENTS FOR RATE SELECTIVE SEPARATION OF NITROGEN FROM METHANE
The present invention generally relates to a process that utilizes tunable zeolite adsorbents in order to reduce the bed size for nitrogen removal from a methane (or a larger molecule) containing stream. The adsorbents are characterized by the rate of adsorption of nitrogen and methane and the result is a bed size that is up to an order of magnitude smaller with these characteristics (in which the rate selectivity is generally 30) than the corresponding bed size for the original tunable zeolite adsorbent that has a rate selectivity of >100x.
CHARACTERISTICS OF TUNABLE ADSORBENTS FOR RATE SELECTIVE SEPARATION OF NITROGEN FROM METHANE
The present invention generally relates to a pressure swing adsorption process for separating an adsorbate impurity from a feed stream comprising product gas, said process comprising feeding the feed stream to an adsorbent bed at a pressure of from about 60 psig to 2000 psig, wherein said adsorbent bed comprises adsorbent having: An isosteric heat of adsorption of from about 5 kJ/mol to about 30 kJ/mol, as determined by the LRC method, for the adsorbate, and an equivalent 65 kJ/mol or less isosteric heat of adsorption for the product,
wherein the adsorbent has a rate of adsorption for the adsorbate impurity that is at least 10 times greater than the rate of adsorption for the product gas as determined by the TGA method and recovering said product gas with a reduced a level of said adsorbate impurity.
The invention also related to an adsorbent useful in PSA separations, particularly separating N.sub.2 from methane, CO.sub.2 from methane O.sub.2 from N.sub.2 and the like.
Apparatus And Method For Solvent Recovery From Drying Process
Method and apparatus for condensing a majority of the solvent in a process gas stream at low temperatures, e.g., below the freezing point of water, ca. 5 C. The gas stream exiting the condenser step may be further processed in one or more emission control devices, such as a single or multi-step series of concentrator devices, such as zeolite concentrator devices. One or more emission control operations can be carried out downstream of the single or multi-step concentrators. The aforementioned condensing process enables the one or more concentrators to operate in a favorable temperature range for removal of 99% or more of VOC, thereby meeting or exceeding strict environmental regulations.
METHOD OF MANUFACTURING HIGH PACKING COMPOSITE ADSORBENT BED
An adsorbent bed, including at least one elementary composite structure that includes adsorbent particles in a polymer matrix, wherein the adsorbent bed has a bed packing, .sub.bed, defined as a volume occupied by the at least one elementary composite structure V.sub.ecs divided by a volume of the adsorbent bed V.sub.bed where .sub.bed is greater than 0.60.
Rotary valve assembly for sieve beds for pressure swing adsorption control
A rotary control valve and a sieve bed module assembly for use in pressure swing adsorption processes to make enriched oxygen product gas for therapy in patients is disclosed. The valve includes a stepping motor with a single shaft extending between ends. At ends of the valve, an air side valve function and oxygen side valve function are provided. Each end includes a stationary plate (stator) with ports, and a disc (rotor) that rotates with the shaft, opening and closing ports to achieve the desired valve function. The valve is integrated into the assembly between two sieve beds and a product storage tank is directly coupled to the oxygen side. Placement of the motor, shaft, and movable parts in the valve and mounting of the beds, valve, and tank in the assembly, result in more compact designs. The motor can be programmed to obtain multiple, different PSA processes and flexibility.
Purification of hydrogen
An apparatus and method for purifying a raw hydrogen gas stream of chloramines and chlorine is provided. The explosive chloramines compounds can be effectively captured by the carbon adsorbent without accumulating on the carbon surface. Rather, the chloramines are converted via decomposition, into non-explosive products with catalytic effect of the carbon material. Chlorine reacts with impregnated reducing agent on the carbon surface to form the solid products, which can be adsorbed on the carbon surface. The purified hydrogen gas contains little to no trace of chloramines and chlorine impurities, thereby making the hydrogen gas suitable for liquid hydrogen production.
Dual filter for moisture removal from a fluid flow
A dual filter (100) for removing one or more components from a fluid flow is provided. The dual filter (100) comprises a first filter media (112a) and a second filter media (112b) respectively disposed in a first conduit (114a) and a second conduit (114b), and at least one manifold (120, 130) coupled to a pair of openings (116a,b) of the conduits (114a, b) wherein the at least one manifold (120, 130) is adapted to monitor and control the fluid flow through one of the filter media (112a,b).
