Pressure swing adsorption type of gas production device
A pressure swing adsorption gas production device that enables performing a desorption process in adsorption towers is provided. The device includes an off gas discharge route connected to the adsorption towers, a membrane separation unit with a separation membrane allowing miscellaneous gas in the off gas discharge route to pass faster than purification target gas, an off gas tank, and a pressure boosting unit that raises the pressure of and supplies the off gas to the membrane separation unit. The off gas tank and the pressure boosting unit are upstream of the membrane separation unit. The device includes a recycle gas return route via which some recycle gas is returned to the source gas supply route. The operation control unit adjusts the off gas adjustment unit so the off gas discharge flow rate is a flow rate where the amount of off gas discharged from one adsorption tower during the desorption process is equivalent to the amount of off gas discharged from the off gas tank when the one adsorption tower starts the desorption process until another starts the desorption process.

MEDICAL GAS PRODUCTION SYSTEM WITH GAS RECYCLING
A medical gas production system produces oxygen enriched air using from air a gas composition having a concentration of oxygen greater than the air for subsequent respiration by patients. The system includes a pair of treatment tanks, each containing an adsorbent bed for adsorbing gases from the air and a receiver tank for receiving an oxygen enriched gas mixture from the treatment tanks. A pair of transfer valves connected between receiver tank and respective ones of the treatment tanks control flow of gas from each treatment tank to the receiver tank, as well as enabling backflow of the gas mixture from the receiver tank to the treatment tank if a measured quality of the gas exiting the receiver tank falls below a prescribed threshold.

PASSIVE LEAK VALVE
A passive valve for use as a fixed leak valve. The valve includes a body having an internal chamber, first and second body ports in fluid communication with the chamber with the first port configured for fluid communication with a patient connection and the second body port configured for fluid communication with a ventilator, a body passageway in fluid communication with the chamber and with ambient air exterior of the body, and a check valve seal positioned to seal the body passageway to permit the flow of gas within the chamber through the body passageway to the exterior of the body and to prevent the flow of ambient air exterior of the body through the body passageway into the chamber. In alternative embodiments, the valve is incorporated into the patient connection or constructed as a separate part connectable to the patient connection.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING PROCESS DISTURBANCES DURING PRESSURIZATION OF AN ADSORBER IN AN AIR SEPARATION UNIT
A method for reducing process disturbances during pressurization of an adsorber in an air separation unit is provided, in which the air separation unit includes a front end purification unit and an air buffer tank. In one embodiment, the method can include the steps of: pressurizing a first adsorber while a second adsorber operates in an adsorption cycle, wherein the step of pressurizing the first adsorber further includes the steps of withdrawing a pressurized air stream from the air buffer tank and introducing the pressurized air stream to the first adsorber until the first adsorber is at a target pressure, wherein the air buffer tank is in fluid communication with the booster air compressor, wherein the method further includes the step of continually sending a first portion of air flow from the booster air compressor to the air buffer tank and continually sending a second portion of air flow from the booster air compressor to a system of columns within a cold box for rectification therein.
Self-contained nitrogen generator
An apparatus and method for nitrogen production from compressed air. The apparatus is a portable compact unit including a compressed air input, a nitrogen generator configured to receive compressed air from a compressor through the compressed air input, a nitrogen storage vessel configured to store pressurized nitrogen, and a compressor failure monitor disposed between the compressed air input and the nitrogen generator. The compressor failure monitor can be in combination with an air dryer device, wherein the compressor failure monitor is configured to monitor a change in air pressure and/or air temperature at or from the air dryer, which can indicate compressor issues.
