A PROCESS FOR THE OXIDATION OF HYDROGEN SULFIDE TO SULFUR TRIOXIDE WITH SUBSEQUENT SULFUR REMOVAL AND A PLANT FOR CARRYING OUT THE PROCESS
A process for the oxidation of hydrogen sulfide to sulfur trioxide with subsequent sulfur trioxide removal comprises oxidizing hydrogen sulfide to sulfur trioxide in at least one catalyst-containing reactor and feeding the effluent from the last reactor to a candle filter unit for SO.sub.3 removal, where it is mixed with an injected alkaline sorbent slurry or powder to form an alkali sulfate and a hot clean gas. Preferably the oxidation is done in two reactors, the first oxidizing H.sub.2S to SO.sub.2 over a monolith type catalyst and the second oxidizing SO.sub.2 to SO.sub.3 over a VK type catalyst.
Process to capture SO.SUB.x .onboard vehicles and ships
Provided is a process that may comprise cooling an engine exhaust emissions comprising SO.sub.x on a vehicle that may come from an engine. The cooled engine exhaust emissions comprising SO.sub.x may be passed to one or more absorption units. The SO.sub.x may be extracted from the engine exhaust emissions with a sorbent supported on solid porous media in an absorption unit on the vehicle to form an absorbed SO.sub.x. The absorbed SO.sub.x may be desorbed, followed by forming one or more SO.sub.x product from the desorbed SO.sub.x. The one or more SO.sub.x product may be unloaded to an off-vehicle facility.

CONTROL OF COMBUSTION SYSTEM EMISSIONS
A process for capturing undesirable combustion products produced in a high temperature combustion system in which a carbonaceous fuel is utilized. Very finely sized particles of alkaline earth carbonates or hydroxides, with or without added ground ash, are provided in slurry form, are dried and milled to provide unagglomerated, sub-micron-sized particles that are injected along with pulverized coal and an oxidizing agent into the high temperature combustion zone of a furnace. The particles capture and neutralize the gases that result in condensable acids, including SO.sub.x, NO.sub.x, HCL, and HF, as well as capturing toxic metals that are present in the combustion products, they mitigate ash fouling and slagging, and they facilitate economic heat exchange that permits fuel savings and recovery of water for use in other processes.
Spray dryer absorber vibrator device and method
A spray dryer absorber operative for removing gaseous pollutants from a hot process flue gas and a vibrator device for removing accumulated deposits therefrom is provided. The spray dryer absorber includes a spray dryer chamber equipped with a plurality of dispersers and atomizers mounted at a roof of the spray dryer chamber. The vibrator device is operative to remove accumulated deposits from the spray dryer absorber and its components, such as its dispersers and atomizers, to avoid spray dryer absorber performance interference caused by such deposit accumulations.
Process for Manufacturing A Sorbent for a Flue Gas Treatment Process, Sorbent and Use of Said Sorbent in Such Flue Gas Treatment Process
The present invention is related to a process for manufacturing a sorbent suitable for a use in a circulating dry scrubber device comprising the steps of: providing quicklime and water in an hydrator; slaking said quicklime via a non-wet route in the hydrator; collecting a lime based sorbent at an exit of the hydrator. The process is characterized in that it comprises a further step of adding at least a first additive comprising: a compound comprising silicon, and/or, a compound comprising aluminum, and/or a compound comprising silicon and aluminum before or during said slaking step, at a molar ratio between silicon or aluminum or a combination thereof and the calcium provided to said hydrator equal to or below 0.2 and equal to or above 0.02. In some other aspects, the present invention is related to a sorbent, a premix, and a flue gas treatment process.
RED MUD UTILIZATION METHOD BASED ON CO-PROCESSING OF INDUSTRIAL EXHAUST GAS, SEWAGE TREATMENT AND ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY AND HIGH PERFORMANCE CIVIL FUNCTIONAL MATERIAL
A red mud utilization method based on co-processing of industrial exhaust gas, sewage treatment and an environment-friendly and high-performance civil functional material, belongs to the technical field of environmental science and cementitious material preparation, and relates to a preparation process of a solid waste-based cementitious material, specifically including the steps: preparing an environment-friendly and high-performance red mud-based civil functional material by using slag obtained after sewage treatment with red mud and other solid wastes in physical and chemical activation and high-temperature calcination methods. The compressive strength of a solid waste-based cementitious material prepared by using the method can reach 29 MPa, the leaching quantity (lower than 3.0 ppm) of toxic elements such as heavy metals is far lower than the national standard requirement, and a solid waste-based cementitious material with great performance can be prepared.
GAS TREATMENT PROCESS AND APPARATUS
A process for cleaning process gas removes sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter (PM) to produce a tail gas substantially free of these pollutants. The process oxidizes and absorbs SOx and NOx for storage as liquid acids. In some embodiments a PM removal stage and/or a SOx removal stage are provided in a close-coupled higher-pressure environment upstream from a turbocharger turbine. The process has example application in cleaning exhaust gases from industrial processes and large diesel engines such as ship engines.
