SEPARATION OF UNSATURATED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS
A membrane based separation method is for the separation or enrichment of one or more unsaturated compounds from mixtures of chemically similar organic compounds having a different degree of unsaturation, using a membrane, such as an inorganic membrane, functionalized with a metal, such as silver.
An inorganic membrane, preferably modified or grafted with an organic functional group, is further functionalized with a metal, such as silver, for use in the membrane based separation methods.
MEMBRANE TUBE
A membrane tube is provided for the permeative separation of a gas from gas mixtures. The membrane tube has at least two membrane tube sections, each with a porous, gas-permeable, metallic, tubular support substrate, and a membrane which is selectively permeable for the gas to be separated off. The tube also has, applied to the support substrate around the circumference, at least one connecting section which is gastight at least on the surface and by way of which the two adjacent membrane tube sections are joined, and at least one spacer in the region of the connecting section. The spacer projects in the radial direction to above the membrane.
MEMBRANE ATTACHMENT TECHNIQUE
Disclosed herein is a method of securing a membrane to a substrate, the method comprising: depositing a metal layer onto a surface of a substrate; and performing a bonding process that bonds a metal membrane onto the deposited metal layer.
HYDROGEN PURIFICATION DEVICES
Hydrogen purification devices and their components are disclosed. In some embodiments, the devices may include at least one foil-microscreen assembly disposed between and secured to first and second end frames. The at least one foil-microscreen assembly may include at least one hydrogen-selective membrane and at least one microscreen structure including a non-porous planar sheet having a plurality of apertures forming a plurality of fluid passages. The planar sheet may include generally opposed planar surfaces configured to provide support to the permeate side. The plurality of fluid passages may extend between the opposed surfaces. The at least one hydrogen-selective membrane may be metallurgically bonded to the at least one microscreen structure.
HYDROGEN SEPARATION FILTER
The hydrogen separation filter includes a porous substrate and a super lattice layer on the porous substrate. The super lattice layer includes at least one lattice expansion layer containing a first material and at least two hydrogen dissociation and permeation layers containing a second material selected from the group consisting of Pd, V, Ta, Ti, Nb, and alloys thereof. The at least one lattice expansion layer and the at least two hydrogen dissociation and permeation layers are alternately stacked. The first material and the second material have a same crystalline structure. A lattice constant a.sub.1,bulk of a first bulk material haying a same composition and a same crystalline structure as the first material and a lattice constant a.sub.2,bulk of a second bulk material having a same composition and a same crystalline structure as the second material satisfy Formula (1):
1.03a.sub.2,bulka.sub.1,bulk1.15a.sub.2,bulk(1)
Separation membrane structure
A separation membrane structure includes a porous support, a first separation membrane and a second separation membrane. The first separation membrane is formed on the porous support and contains high silica zeolite having Si/Al atomic ratio of greater than or equal to 200. The second separation membrane is formed on the first separation membrane and contains cation.
Reverse osmosis membranes and separations
Asymmetric membrane structures are provided that are suitable for various types of separations, such as separations by reverse osmosis. Methods for making an asymmetric membrane structure are also provided. The membrane structure can include at least one polymer layer. Pyrolysis can be used to convert the polymer layer to a porous carbon structure with a higher ratio of carbon to hydrogen.
HYDROGEN GENERATION ASSEMBLIES AND HYDROGEN PURIFICATION DEVICES
Hydrogen generation assemblies, hydrogen purification devices, and their components, and methods of manufacturing those assemblies, devices, and components are disclosed. In some embodiments, the devices may include an insulation base having insulating material and at least one passage that extends through the insulating material. In some embodiments, the at least one passage may be in fluid communication with a combustion region.
FILTRATION FILTER
A filtration filter comprises a metallic mesh having a circumferential shape and radially inner and outer portions. The metallic mesh is adapted to filter out a filtration target object contained in a fluid passing through the membrane. First and second frame members hold the outer portion there between so as to create first and second bent sections separated by a transition section extending between the first and second bent sections. The transition section includes at least one streaked projection.
Hydrocarbon reverse osmosis membranes and separations
Asymmetric membrane structures are provided that are suitable for various types of separations, such as separations by reverse osmosis. Methods for making an asymmetric membrane structure are also provided. The membrane structure can include at least one polymer layer. Pyrolysis can be used to convert the polymer layer to a porous carbon structure with a higher ratio of carbon to hydrogen.
