Absorbents comprising a compound of the formula (I) have rapid absorption of carbon dioxide from fluid streams and are also suitable for processes for the simultaneous removal of H.sub.2S and CO.sub.2, where given H.sub.2S limits have to be observed but complete removal of CO.sub.2 is not required.

Methods and systems for treating a switchable polarity material, and related methods of liquid treatment

A method of treating a switchable polarity material comprises introducing a first feed stream comprising a solvent and a non-polar form of the switchable polarity material to a first side of a gas diffusion membrane. A second feed stream comprising an acid gas is introduced to a second side of the gas diffusion membrane opposing the first side of the gas diffusion membrane. Molecules of the acid gas of the second feed stream are diffused across the gas diffusion membrane and into the first feed stream to form a product stream comprising a polar form of the switchable polarity material. A treatment system for a switchable polarity material, and a method of liquid treatment are also described.

ACID GAS REGENERABLE BATTERY

A method of generating electricity from an amine-based acid gas capture process using an electrolytic cell containing an anode and a cathode and an amine based electrolyte comprising: contacting a metal based redox material with an amine based electrolyte in the presence of an anode to form a metal-ammine complex in solution; adding an absorbed or absorbable acid gas to the metal-ammine complex containing electrolyte to form an acid gas absorbed electrolyte; and contacting the acid gas absorbed electrolyte with a cathode deposit, wherein the acid gas breaks up the metal-ammine complex in the metal-ammine complex containing electrolyte thereby generating a potential difference between the anode and the cathode.

PROCESSES FOR GAS SEPARATION BY SOLVENT OR ABSORBENT

Solvent absorption processes for separating components of an impure feed gas are disclosed. The processes involve two stages of gas purification. The acid gases including hydrogen sulfide, carbon dioxide and other sulfur compounds are simultaneously removed from the feed gas by contact with a physical solvent in two stages. The subject matter disclosed provides improved processes to reduce the operating costs of the system.

Solvent and process for removing carbon dioxide from a gaseous mixture having high carbon dioxide partial pressures

The present invention relates to an absorption solvent and, more particularly, to an absorption solvent for removing carbon dioxide from a gaseous mixture having high carbon dioxide partial pressure.

GUANIDINE COMPOUNDS FOR CARBON DIOXIDE CAPTURE

A method for removing carbon dioxide from a gaseous source, the method comprising: (i) contacting said gaseous source with an aqueous solution of a carbon dioxide sorbent that reacts with carbon dioxide to form an aqueous-soluble carbonate or bicarbonate salt of said carbon dioxide sorbent; (ii) contacting the aqueous solution from step (i) with a bis-iminoguanidine carbon dioxide complexing compound, which is different from the carbon dioxide sorbent, to result in precipitation of a carbonate or bicarbonate salt of said carbon dioxide complexing compound and regeneration of the carbon dioxide sorbent; and (iii) removing the precipitated carbonate or bicarbonate salt from the aqueous solution in step (ii) to result in a solid form of said carbonate or bicarbonate salt of the carbon dioxide complexing compound. The method may further include a step (iv) of regenerating the carbon dioxide complexing compound by subjecting the precipitated salt to sufficient heat and/or vacuum.
