Cleansing lamp utilizing metal-organic framework
11493180 · 2022-11-08 ·

An LED lighting fixture powered by a Metal-Organic Framework heat battery. The heat battery is formed of a canister, a MOF container comprised of a plurality of MOF tunnels, each MOF tunnel containing a powdered MOF material, a gate, and a plurality of thermoelectric devices. Below a certain adsorption activation temperature, the MOF material adsorbs a gas from the atmosphere. Above a certain desorption activation temperature, the MOF desorbs the gas. The heat from the adsorption is used to generate electrical current. The desorbed gas is captured to remove it from the atmosphere.

SOLAR THERMAL UNIT

Solar thermal units and methods of operating solar thermal units for the conversion of solar insolation to thermal energy are provided. In some examples, solar thermal units have an inlet, and a split flow of heat absorbing fluid to either side of the solar thermal unit, along a first fluid flow path and a second fluid flow path. Optionally, one or more photovoltaic panels can be provided as part of the solar thermal unit, which may convert solar insolation to electric power that may be used by a system connected to the solar thermal unit.

Recycling of Waste Heat by Dehumidifier Appliance: Apparatus and Method
20170232382 · 2017-08-17 ·

The present invention is a dehumidifier powered by an engine. The dehumidifier recycles waste heat from the engine and other components for the drying process. Moisture is transferred by advection and evaporation from an air stream flowing through the target environment (e.g., building interior) into a hot system air stream.

System and method for passive collection of atmospheric carbon dioxide

A system and method for passive collection of atmospheric carbon dioxide is disclosed. The system includes a harvest chamber having a first opening and a sorbent regeneration system. The system also includes a capture body coupled to and movable by a support structure. The capture body includes a sorbent material and is movable by the support structure to be in a collection configuration wherein at least a portion of the capture body is in contact with a natural airflow outside the harvest chamber such that atmospheric carbon dioxide is captured by the sorbent material, and a release configuration wherein at least a portion of the capture body holding captured carbon dioxide is operated upon by the regeneration system inside the harvest chamber such that captured carbon dioxide is released to form an enriched gas.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR GENERATING WATER FROM AIR

Water generation systems and related methods of generating water from air are disclosed herein. In various embodiments, water generation systems and related methods comprise a solar unit or layer to convert solar radiation into heat and/or electrical energy, a sorption unit or layer comprising a hygroscopic material to capture water vapor from ambient air, a regeneration gas to accumulate water vapor from the sorption unit or layer, and a heat exchange assembly to condense water vapor from the regeneration gas to produce liquid water. Disclosed heat exchange assemblies can comprise a vapor-compression cycle or refrigeration circuit configured to circulate a refrigerant. A refrigerant evaporator can transfer heat from condensation of water vapor in the regeneration gas to the refrigerant and/or a refrigerant condenser can transfer heat from condensation of refrigerant vapor to the sorption unit or layer. Various embodiments include a controller to adjust a system operational setpoint based on a system operational state and/or an environmental condition.
