A fluid mixing device includes inlet ports in fluid communication with respective source containers, an inlet check valve, a mixing container in fluid communication with the inlet check valve, a discharge port in fluid communication with a target container, and a discharge check valve in fluid communication with the mixing container and the discharge port. Responsive to a negative pressure at the mixing container, fluid is drawn from the respective source containers through the inlet ports and through the inlet check valve and into the mixing container, while the discharge check valve precludes drawing of fluid from the target container. Responsive to a positive pressure at the mixing container, fluid is expelled from the mixing container through the discharge check valve and into the target container, while the inlet check valve precludes discharge of fluid from the mixing container to the inlet ports and the source containers.

The device may comprise a pattern of internal sawtooth waves that provide for efficient and complete mixing of a solute and a solvent. In one embodiment the sawtooth wave impeller tumbler may comprise a tumbler for use by an individual user. The device may further comprise a plurality of components to improve the case of use and the functionality of the device such as, for example, a handle, a carabiner clip, a mouth cap, a removeable lid, or a support base.

A modular flow monitoring package (MFMP) is provided for use in an additive delivery system. The MFMP may be manufactured as an add-on to be added to an existing additive delivery system, or may be incorporated into a cartridge or container structure. The MFMP includes a flow sensor for sensing flow of a base fluid and user actuator position sensors for sensing the position of one or more user actuated additive flow adjustment levers. A visual display, which may comprise an array of multi-color LED's may convey information to a user that is relevant to a user's use of the additive delivery system or the user's nutritional needs. Such information may include a current dosage of additive, being delivered, whether a recommended dosage of additive has been consumed, remaining life of a cartridge or supply of additive, and other data relative to health or performance monitoring.

A beverage apparatus hand-holdable by a user to be portable, can include a beverage chamber housing that includes a chamber for storing a consumable liquid. The beverage apparatus can include a dispensing assembly that includes a receptacle. The receptacle can retain a vessel. The vessel can include an electronic tag and can contain an additive. The dispensing assembly can be operatively controllable by a controller to output the additive from the vessel into the consumable liquid. The beverage apparatus can include one or more sensors, devices, or assemblies that can be used to detect a volume of liquid in the chamber or a liquid level in the chamber. The beverage apparatus can include an apparatus computer processor portion (ACP) and an apparatus database portion.

The mixing device has an agitator with a center portion and distal portions of larger diameter than the center portion. The agitator is insertable within a hand-held, shakeable container. The agitator is composed of a framework arranged to provide voids to allow for flow of liquids, powders, and other materials into and out of portions of the agitator. The mixing device also has a weighted member attached adjacent to or within the center of the agitator that increases the momentum of the mixing device when in operation. The weighted member may have a metal core and polymer exterior.
