Systems and methods that implement a GUI functional block that allows a user to specify a compounding formula for a composition, an ingredient validation functional block configured for receiving a code on a container holding a first ingredient, consulting a database to derive a formulation ingredient to be used in preparing the composition, determining if the first ingredient matches the formulation ingredient, a planetary mixer control functional block configured for consulting the database arrangement at least partly on a basis of the specified compounding formula to determine mixing parameters for a planetary mixer that are associated with the specified compounding formula, causing a motor assembly of the planetary mixer to apply superimposed rotation and revolution movements to a container in accordance with the mixing parameters determined from the consulting, preventing operation of the motor assembly if the determining step fails to match the first ingredient to the formulation ingredient.

A mixer is provided for mixing a substance in a container. The mixer includes a motor; a frame configured to be controlled by the motor to rotate on an axis; a carrier disposed at a first end of the frame and configured to hold the container; a counterweight disposed at a second end of the frame opposite to the carrier, wherein the counterweight position relative to the axis is adjustable. The mixer may be a stand-alone unit, or it may be disposed in an apparatus for dispensing a cosmetic composition.

Provided herein are methods and systems of the invention that include the use of an automated solution dispenser to form a solution according to at least one target characteristic. A controller may be operatively connected to the automated solution dispenser, wherein the controller is programmed to direct mixing of one or more solids and one or more liquids to produce the solution. At least a portion of the solution can be dispensed into one or more containers.

A blending system is described for preparing a blended mixture. The blending system includes a control system having at least a processor, a computer-readable memory, and a display, wherein the memory contains software configured to receive a formula defining instructions for preparing a blended mixture using one or more blending materials and amounts for the blended mixture using a scale. A system includes a recirculation line, a mainline flow meter operable to measure a flowrate of fluid flowing through the recirculation line, a mixing chamber, an inlet line coupled between the recirculation line and the mixing chamber, at least one chemical injection port coupled to the inlet line, a dedicated feed pump operably associated with each chemical injection port, and an outlet line coupled between the mixing chamber and the recirculation line. The mixing chamber includes a plurality of mixing zones, a mixing blade assembly that includes at least one blade within each mixing zone, and a motor coupled to the mixing blade assembly and operable to rotate the mixing blade assembly. A method and a system for preparing a biomaterial from at least two components, said method comprising the steps of: providing at least two biomaterial components in a mixing compartment (3) of the preparation system (1; 1); measuring at least one feature in the preparation system with at least one sensor (7), said at least one feature comprising at least temperature and/or humidity; mixing said at least two biomaterial components by a mixing device (5) of the preparation system (1; 1) to which mixing device (5) said mixing compartment (3) can be or is connected; controlling said mixing by a control unit (9) of the preparation system (1; 1), said control unit (9) being in communication contact with said mixing device (5) and with said at least one sensor (7), wherein said mixing is controlled such that at least one mixing parameter of said mixing is dependent on a value of said at least one measured feature.
