Described are a gradient system and method, wherein at least two fluids are mixed in accordance with a noise level threshold. An inlet receives the fluids. A pump head body has a mixing chamber therein in communication with the inlet. The mixing chamber has a first delay volume configured to mix the fluids having a noise level. A pump head extension has a mixing chamber extension therein extending from the mixing chamber. The mixing chamber extension increases the volume of the mixing chamber by a second delay volume to a third delay volume. The fluids are mixed in the third delay volume at a compositional noise level that is less than the noise level.

High-pressure homogenizer

A high-pressure homogenizer, comprising: a plurality of pumping pistons (2a, 2b), for feeding a liquid to be homogenized toward a manifold (6), each piston being associated with a respective oil hydraulic cylinder; a homogenizing valve positioned downstream of said pumping pistons (2a, 2b); and an electronic system (5) for controlling and regulating said pumping pistons (2a, 2b), which controls the law of motion of each individual piston (2a, 2b) independently. Said electronic regulation system (5) is connected to a transducer placed on the manifold (6) to regulate the delivery of oil to the individual cylinders (3a, 3b) according to the pressure, sensed in the manifold (6), of the liquid to be homogenized pumped by said pistons (2a, 2b) in order to maintain a stable flow rate and pressure.

Systems and methods for acid mixing

A system for mixing acid and water can include a tank for holding acid, an acid pump for pumping acid out of the tank, an acid flow meter, an acid control valve, a water pump for pumping water, a water flow meter, a water control valve, a flush valve to selectively flush the system with water, and a controller to monitor the flow meters and control the pumps and the valves. The acid control valve and/or the water control valve can be an electronically controlled valve. The flush valve can be an electronically controlled valve to selectively permit water to flow from downstream of the water pump to upstream of the acid pump. The acid control valve, the water control valve, the flush valve, or any combination thereof can be throttled by the controller to control flow therethrough.

Embodiments include systems and methods of in-line mixing of hydrocarbon liquids from a plurality of tanks into a single pipeline. According to an embodiment, a method of admixing hydrocarbon liquids from a plurality of tanks into a single pipeline to provide in-line mixing thereof includes determining a ratio of a second fluid flow to a first fluid flow based on signals received from a tank flow meter in fluid communication with the second fluid flow and a booster flow meter in fluid communication with a blended fluid flow. The blended fluid flow includes a blended flow of the first fluid flow and the second fluid flow. The method further includes comparing the determined ratio to a pre-selected set point ratio thereby to determine a modified flow of the second fluid flow to drive the ratio toward the pre-selected set point ratio. The method further includes controlling a variable speed drive connected to a pump thereby to control the second fluid flow through the pump based on the determined modified flow, the pump being in fluid communication with the second fluid flow.
