MULTI-STAGE SYSTEM FOR PROCESSING HYDROCARBON FUELS
A method for converting hydrocarbon materials into a product includes receiving a hydrocarbon feedstock in a first reaction chamber, receiving a process gas in the first reaction chamber, and forming a first set of discharge conditions in the presence of energy from a microwave generator, in the first reaction chamber, to convert the hydrocarbon feedstock into an intermediate product for delivery to a second reaction chamber. The method also includes delivering the intermediate product to the second reaction chamber, forming a second set of discharge conditions, and converting the intermediate product into a final product in the second reaction chamber.
Processing biomass
Biomass (e.g., plant biomass, animal biomass, and municipal waste biomass) is processed to produce useful products, such as fuels. For example, systems can use feedstock materials, such as cellulosic and/or lignocellulosic materials and/or starchy or sugary materials, to produce ethanol and/or butanol, e.g., by fermentation.
Pressure stepped microwave assisted digestion
A venting cap is disclosed for pressure vessels for microwave-assisted chemistry. The venting cap includes a flexible circular cover for closing the mouth of a reaction vessel, a flexible annular wall depending from the circular cover, and a flexible annular ring at the bottom of the annular wall and parallel to the circular cover for positioning the cap on a reaction vessel. At least one indentation in the circular cover minimizes distortion when any contents of a reaction vessel exert pressure against the cap, and at least one opening in the annular wall provides a ventilation path through the cap when gas pressure in a reaction vessel flexes the cap sufficiently to partially disengage at least a portion of the cap from the mouth of the reaction vessel.
Microwave heating method, microwave heating apparatus, and chemical reaction method
A microwave heating method using a microwave, including: controlling a frequency of the microwave, to form a single-mode standing wave; disposing an object to be heated in a magnetic field region where a strength of a magnetic field formed by the single-mode standing wave is uniform and maximum; and heating the object to be heated by magnetic heat generation by magnetic loss caused by an action of the magnetic field of the magnetic field region, and/or induction heating by an induced current generated in the object to be heated due to the magnetic field of the magnetic field region.
A SINGLE DOMINATING MODE MICROWAVE REACTOR
The present invention relates to a single mode or single dominating mode microwave reactor, a single dominating mode microwave reactor system and a method of producing fuel, such as biofuel.
Methods and Systems for Liquefaction of Carbonaceous Materials
Methods for liquefaction of carbonaceous materials, including methods that use electromagnetic radiation. Systems for liquefaction of carbonaceous materials. The systems may include a circulation conduit for mixing reactants, and/or a heating apparatus that relies on electromagnetic radiation.
Polar monomer grafted polypropylene resin, preparation method therefor and application thereof
A grafted polypropylene resin is prepared by a grafting reaction of a polar monomer capable of absorbing microwave so as to raise its temperature in a microwave field to more than 200? C. and a solid polypropylene resin using microwave irradiation without adding an initiator. The polar grafted polypropylene resin that does not contain initiator residues and does not have a significant reduction in molecular mass compared with a resin before grafting is obtained.
Continuous operation method for microwave high-temperature pyrolysis of solid material comprising organic matter
A continuous operation method is employed for the microwave high-temperature pyrolysis of a solid material containing an organic matter. The method includes the steps of mixing a solid material containing an organic matter with a liquid organic medium; transferring the obtained mixture to a microwave field; and in the microwave field, continuously contacting the mixture with a strong wave absorption material in an inert atmosphere or in vacuum. The strong wave absorption material continuously generates a high temperature under a microwave such that the solid material containing an organic matter and the liquid organic medium are continuously pyrolyzed to implement a continuous operation.
Hybrid processing of waste material
A system for processing rubber material pre-heats the material and then applies microwave energy to process the system The system comprising a rubber material receiver for accepting the rubber material which passes the material to a pre-heating unit adapted for the rubber material passing through comprising a plurality of heating elements that heat the rubber material to between about 100 to about 350 C in an oxygen depleted atmosphere. Once pre-heated, the material is conveyed to a microwave unit adapted for receiving the pre-heated rubber material comprising microwave magnetrons, which radiate the pre-heated rubber material and external heat sources in an oxygen depleted environment until the pre-heated rubber is substantially reduced to a carbonaceous material having a volatile content of below 5% and more preferably below 2%. After being processed by microwave energy, the processed material exits on a cooling conveyor that receives processed rubber material from the microwave unit and cools the material in an oxygen depleted environment. One or more conveyors are used to transport the rubber material from the rubber material receiver into and through the pre-heating unit and into and through the microwave unit to the cooling conveyor.
SULFUR PRODUCTION
A system includes a first chamber, a second chamber, an ultraviolet light source and a microwave source. The first chamber includes an inlet. The second chamber is adjacent the first chamber and includes an outlet and a waveguide. The ultraviolet light source resides within the waveguide of the second chamber. Related apparatus, systems, techniques and articles are also described.
