Stabilization of zeolite beta for FCC processes

Methods are provided for performing fluid catalytic cracking (and/or other hydrothermal processing for cracking of hydrocarbons) on a feedstock containing hydrocarbons in the presence of a catalyst that includes zeolite Beta that is stabilized toward hydrothermal conditions. The hydrothermally stabilized zeolite Beta (including any of the various polymorphs) corresponds to zeolite Beta that is formed without the use of an organic structure directing agent, and that is further stabilized by addition of one or more stabilizers, such as lanthanide series elements or phosphorus.

Catalytic decomposition of sterol glycosides in a diesel fuel filter

The present disclosure relates to a fuel filter (1) for filtering diesel fuel supplied to an internal combustion engine (2). The fuel filter (1) includes a filter element (12, 19) for trapping and decomposing precipitates suspended in the diesel fuel. An solid acid catalyst like a zeolite is provided for decomposing precipitates trapped by the filter element (12, 19). Sterol glycosides (precipitates) are splitted into sterol and glycoside moieties, which are soluble in the biodiesel, thus preventing clogging of the filter by sterol glycoside agglomerates. The sterol and glycoside moieties pass to the engine where they are burnt. The present disclosure also relates to a method of filtering diesel fuel for supply to an internal combustion engine (2).

Hydrocarbon conversion using UZM-50

A new aluminosilicate zeolite designated UZM-50, methods of making the zeolite, and its use as a catalyst in hydrocarbon conversion processes are described. This zeolite is represented by the empirical formula:
M.sup.+.sub.mR.sub.rAl.sub.1xE.sub.xSi.sub.yO.sub.z
where M is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium or combinations thereof, R is the organic structure directing agent or agents derived from reactants R1 and R2 where R1 is an amine essentially incapable of undergoing pyramidal inversion and having 7 or fewer carbon atoms, and R2 is a dihaloalkane, and E is an element selected from the group consisting of gallium, iron, boron and mixtures thereof. UZM-50 has utility in various hydrocarbon conversion reactions such as conversion of an aromatic molecule to another aromatic molecule.

FLUID CATALYTIC CRACKING ADDITIVE COMPOSITION FOR ENHANCED BUTYLENES SELECTIVITY OVER PROPYLENE

Disclosed herein in certain embodiments is a fluid catalyst cracking (FCC) additive composition that includes a first component, a second component, and optionally a third component. The first component includes beta zeolite and a first matrix. The second component includes ZSM-5 zeolite and a second matrix. The third component includes Y zeolite and a third matrix. The components are present in the additive composition in a range that provides for enhanced butylenes to propylene selectivity ratio and total butylenes yield when catalytically cracking a hydrocarbon feed.

METHODS FOR PRODUCING MESOPOROUS ZEOLITE MULTIFUNCTIONAL CATALYSTS FOR UPGRADING PYROLYSIS OIL

A method of making a multifunctional catalyst for upgrading pyrolysis oil includes contacting a hierarchical mesoporous zeolite support with a solution including at least a first metal catalyst precursor and a second metal catalyst precursor, each or both of which may include a heteropolyacid. The hierarchical mesoporous zeolite support may have an average pore size of from 2 nm to 40 nm. Contacting the hierarchical mesoporous zeolite support with the solution deposits or adsorbs the first metal catalyst precursor and the second catalyst precursor onto outer surfaces and pore surfaces of the hierarchical mesoporous zeolite support to produce a multifunctional catalyst precursor. The method further includes removing excess solution and calcining the multifunctional catalyst precursor to produce the multifunctional catalyst comprising at least a first metal catalyst and a second metal catalyst deposited on the outer surfaces and pore surfaces of the hierarchical mesoporous zeolite support.
