Dinuclear copper catalyst for the oxidation/oxygenation of hydrocarbons
The subject invention provides synthetic compounds, and compound complexes having catalytic activities towards oxidation or oxygenation, and/or dehydrogenation of various substrates comprising C—H bonds. The catalysts of the subject invention comprise a dinuclear Cu(I)/Cu(II) center that can convert between a resting state and a reactive species. The subject invention also provides methods of using such catalysts for the oxidation of substrates comprising C—H bonds, e.g., hydrocarbons, to synthesize chemicals for use as pharmaceuticals and industrial feedstock.
Method of making a cross metathesis product
Method of making a cross metathesis product, the method comprising at least step (X) or step (Y): (X) reacting in a cross metathesis reaction a first compound comprising a terminal olefinic group with a second compound comprising a terminal olefinic group, wherein the first and the second compound may be identical or may be different from one another; or (Y) reacting in a ring-closing metathesis reaction two terminal olefinic groups which are comprised in a third compound; wherein the reacting in step (X) or step (Y) is performed in the presence of a ruthenium carbene complex comprising a [Ru═C]-moiety and an internal olefin.
SYNTHESIS OF PHEROMONE DERIVATIVES VIA Z-SELECTIVE OLEFIN METATHESIS
Disclosed herein are methods for synthesizing fatty olefin metathesis products of high Z-isomeric purity from olefin feedstocks of low Z-isomeric purity. The methods include contacting a contacting an olefin metathesis reaction partner, such as acylated alkenol or an alkenal acetal, with an internal olefin in the presence of a Z-selective metathesis catalyst to form the fatty olefin metathesis product. In various embodiments, the fatty olefin metathesis products are insect pheromones. Pheromone compositions and methods of using them are also described.
Method for fabricating a high-activity double-metal-cyanide catalyst
A high-activity double-metal-cyanide catalyst, a method for fabricating the same, and applications of the same are disclosed. An organic complexing ligand, which is formed via mixing fatty alcohols and alicyclic carbonates, is used to generate a high-activity double-metal-cyanide catalyst. The high-activity double-metal-cyanide catalyst includes at least one double-metal-cyanide compound, at least one organic complexing ligand, and an optional functionalized compound. The double-metal-cyanide catalyst of the present invention has a higher activity than the conventional double-metal-cyanide catalysts. The polyols generated by the present invention has an insignificant amount of high-molecular-weight compounds.
