PROCESS AND APPARATUS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF SYNTHESIS GAS
Reactive diluent fluid (22) is introduced into a stream of synthesis gas (or syngas) produced in a heat-generating unit such as a partial oxidation (POX) reactor (12) to cool the syngas and form a mixture of cooled syngas and reactive diluent fluid. Carbon dioxide and/or carbon components and/or hydrogen in the mixture of cooled syngas and reactive diluent fluid is reacted (26) with at least a portion of the reactive diluent fluid in the mixture to produce carbon monoxide-enriched and/or solid carbon depleted syngas which is fed into a secondary reformer unit (30) such as an enhanced heat transfer reformer in a heat exchange reformer process. An advantage of the invention is that problems with the mechanical integrity of the secondary unit arising from the high temperature of the syngas from the heat-generating unit are avoided.
Reforming with oxygen-enriched matter
Various embodiments that pertain to oxygen enrichment are described. Oxygen enrichment is shown to allow for independent control of both reformer residence time and the oxygen-to-carbon ratio during reforming. This allows for much better control over the reformer and for significant gains in reformer through-put without negative impacts to reformer performance. Additionally, the use of oxygen enriched reforming is shown to result in enhanced reformer performance, reduced degradation from catalyst poisons (carbon formation and sulfur) and enhanced fuel cell stack performance due to greatly increased hydrogen concentration in the reformate.
Hydrocarbon Conversion
The invention relates to hydrocarbon conversion, to equipment and materials useful for hydrocarbon conversion, and to processes for carrying out hydrocarbon conversion, e.g., hydrocarbon pyrolysis processes. The hydrocarbon conversion is carried out in a reactor which includes at least one channeled member that comprises refractory and has an open frontal area 55%. The refractory can include non-oxide ceramic.

Hydrocarbon Pyrolysis
The invention relates to hydrocarbon pyrolysis, to equipment and materials useful for hydrocarbon pyrolysis, to processes for carrying out hydrocarbon pyrolysis, and to the use of hydrocarbon pyrolysis for, e.g., hydrocarbon upgrading.
Continuous chemical reactor
A continuous chemical reactor may include a primary reaction unit and at least one secondary reaction unit. The primary reaction unit has a stirring device and a first temperature regulating device, and a feed inlet provided at an upper portion thereof. The secondary reaction unit is sleeved outside the primary reaction unit, and a reaction chamber is formed therebetween. By adding reaction materials to the primary reaction unit via the feed inlet and adjusting the temperature of the reaction materials by the first temperature regulating device, the reacted materials enter the reaction chamber, and the heat generated in the reaction chamber can be used to adjust the temperature of the materials in the primary reaction unit to more effectively use the heat, and the product after reaction can be discharged from a discharge hole at the lower end of the secondary reaction unit, thereby achieving continuous production.
TWO-STAGE ENERGY-INTEGRATED PRODUCT GAS GENERATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A multi-stage product gas generation system converts a carbonaceous material, such as municipal solid waste, into a product gas which may subsequently be converted into a liquid fuel or other material. One or more reactors containing bed material may be used to conduct reactions to effect the conversions. Unreacted inert feedstock contaminants present in the carbonaceous material may be separated from bed material using a portion of the product gas. A heat transfer medium collecting heat from a reaction in one stage may be applied as a reactant input in another, earlier stage.
CHEMICAL TRANSFORMATION SYSTEM
A device may include a plasma chamber in fluid communication with an ancillary reaction chamber and an integrated reformer. The integrated reformer may be in fluid communication with the ancillary reaction chamber. The ancillary reaction chamber may be configured to utilize heat from a heated first synthesis gas stream received from the plasma chamber to initiate an exothermic reaction with a second gas stream to output a heated second synthesis gas stream to the integrated reformer.
Hydrogen generation systems
A water gas shift (WGS) reactor system includes a housing; a reaction tube disposed in the housing, wherein a reaction channel is defined within the reaction tube and a cooling fluid channel is defined between the housing and the reaction tube; a catalyst disposed in the reaction channel, the catalyst configured to catalyze a hydrogen generation reaction; and a heat transfer material disposed in the reaction channel.
MULTI-TUBULAR CHEMICAL REACTOR WITH IGNITER FOR INITIATION OF GAS PHASE EXOTHERMIC REACTIONS
A multi-tubular chemical reactor includes an igniter for the initiation of gas phase exothermic reaction within the gas phase reaction zones of the tubular reactor units.
