A processing system for producing a product material from a liquid mixture includes an array of one or more power jet modules adapted to jet the liquid mixture into one or more streams of droplets and force the one or more streams of droplets into the processing system adapted to process the one or more streams of droplets into the product material. A method for producing a product material from a liquid mixture on a processing system includes moving each of the one or more power jet modules and be connected to an opening of a dispersion chamber, opening one or more doors of the one or more power jet modules, processing the one or more streams of droplets inside a reaction chamber, closing the one or more doors of the power jets modules and moving each of the one or more power jet modules in a second direction.
HIGH RATE REACTOR SYSTEM
A process and system for upgrading an organic feedstock including providing an organic feedstock and water mixture, feeding the mixture into a high-rate, hydrothermal reactor, wherein the mixture is rapidly heated, subjected to heat, pressure, and turbulent flow, maintaining the heat and pressure of the mixture for a residence time of less than three minutes to cause the organic components of the mixture to undergo conversion reactions resulting in increased yields of distillate fuels, higher-quality kerosene and diesel fuels, and the formation of high octane naphtha compounds. Hydrocarbon products are cooled at a rate sufficient to inhibit additional reaction and recover of process heat, and depressurizing the hydrocarbon products, and separating the hydrocarbon products for further processing. The process and system can include devices to convert olefinic hydrocarbons into paraffinic hydrocarbons and convert olefinic byproduct gas to additional high-octane naphtha and/or heavier hydrocarbons by one of hydrogenations, alkylation, or oligomerization.
Method for carbon black production using preheated feedstock and apparatus for same
Methods for production of carbon black using high temperature feedstock at temperatures exceeding about 300 C. with fouling control are provided. An apparatus for production of carbon black according to these methods also is provided.
High temperature quench system and process
A quench system and process for cooling high temperature gases is presented. The quench system includes a frustum, or conic, shaped section having an inlet at the smaller end of the quench section and the outlet at the larger end of the quench section. The system includes spray nozzles having openings flush with the wall of the quench section. The process includes spraying a large volume of liquid in small droplets for rapid heat transfer and vaporization of the quench liquid.
METHANE CONVERSION APPARATUS AND PROCESS USING A SUPERSONIC FLOW REACTOR
Apparatus and methods are provided for converting methane in a feed stream to acetylene. A hydrocarbon stream is introduced into a supersonic reactor and pyrolyzed to convert at least a portion of the methane to acetylene. The reactor effluent stream may be treated to convert acetylene to another hydrocarbon process.
MATERIAL SUBSTITUTION OF CUPROUS CHLORIDE MOLTEN SALT AND OXYGEN GAS IN THE THERMOLYSIS REACTOR OF HYDROGEN PRODUCTION Cu-Cl CYCLE
In the thermochemical water splitting process by the CuCl cycle, oxygen gas is produced by a thermolysis process in a three-phase reactor. A precise knowledge of the hydrodynamic and heat transfer analyses is required for the scale-up of the thermolysis reactor. However, in the experimental studies of the scale up analysis, there are some challenges in using the actual materials of the thermolysis reactor products (i.e. molten salt CuCl and oxygen gas). In accordance with the teachings herein, alternative materials are defined, by using dimensional analyses, to simulate the hydrodynamic and heat transfer behaviors of the actual materials. It has been found that these alternative materials are liquid water at 222 C. and helium gas at 902 C. The alternative materials provide safe environment for the experimental runs as well as lower operating temperature. Furthermore, these alternative materials are more readily available and are low cost.
DIRECT CONTACT HEAT TRANSFER IN THE THERMOLYSIS REACTOR OF HYDROGEN PRODUCTION Cu-Cl CYCLE
In the thermochemical water splitting process by CuCl cycle, oxygen gas is produced by a thermolysis process in a three-phase reactor. IN accordance with the teachings herein, a technique is provided to achieve the high challenging thermal requirements of the thermolysis reactor, whereby an optimized heat transfer configuration is used. The technique involves using some of the pre-heated stoichiometric oxygen gas produced from the thermolysis reaction, to transfer heat directly to the slurry of molten CuCl and solid Cu.sub.2OCl.sub.2 inside the thermolysis reactor. Experiments were performed to examine the volumetric heat transfer coefficient for the direct contact heat transfer between the gas and the slurry. It was found that the thermal scale up analysis of the thermolysis reactor with direct contact heat transfer, is based on the amount of heat carried by the oxygen gas rather than the amount of heat transferred by direct contact heat transfer.
