Device and method for making discrete volumes of a first fluid in contact with a second fluid, which are immiscible with each other
A method for generating, within a conduit, discrete volumes of one or more fluids that are immiscible with a second fluid. The discrete volumes can be used for biochemical or molecular biology procedures involving small volumes, for example, microliter-sized volumes, nanoliter-sized volumes, or smaller. The discrete volumes are separated from one another by a liquid that is immiscible with the fluid(s) of the discrete volumes, for example, aqueous immiscible-fluid-discrete volumes separated by an oil.

The presently disclosed subject matter relates to an industrial system for processing various plant materials to produce marketable materials. Particularly, the system integrates subcritical water extraction technology and includes a pre-processing module and a two-stage extractor (processing module) with constant control of temperature, pressure, and/or residence time. In some embodiments, the final product of the disclosed system can include feedstock constituents for biofuel production (sugars and/or oil), biochar, raw materials for various industries (such as pulp for manufacturing paper or cellulose for use in various industries). The disclosed system can be modular or non-modular, stationary or mobile, and can include prefabricated elements with programmed automatic or manual operation so that it can be easily moved and/or assembled on site.

SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED OLIGONUCLEOTIDE SYNTHESIS
A reactor system is disclosed. The reactor system includes a vessel configured to contain a solid support, the vessel including: a vessel wall defining a reaction chamber, the reaction chamber having a first end and a second end opposite the first end; a piston operatively arranged at the first end and configured to translate within the reaction chamber; a force measuring device coupled to the piston and configured to measure a load on the piston; a piston driver coupled to the piston; and a processor operably coupled to the force measuring device and the piston driver, the processor configured to: measure a load on the piston using the force measuring device, and adjust a position of the piston using the piston driver based on measuring the load on the piston.
Apparatus, System, And Method Using Immiscible-Fluid-Discrete-Volumes
Various embodiments of the teachings relate to a system or method for sample preparation or analysis in biochemical or molecular biology procedures. The sample preparation can involve small volume processed in discrete portions or segments or slugs, herein referred to as discrete volumes. A molecular biology procedure can be nucleic acid analysis. Nucleic acid analysis can be an integrated DNA amplification/DNA sequencing procedure.

METHODS AND COMPOSITIONS FOR LARGE-SCALE CONJUGATABLE POLYMER AND PROTEIN SYNTHESIS
Methods and compositions for manufacturing large-scale quantities of conjugatable peptides/peptoids/polymers/nucleic acids and conjugatable proteins, as well as hybrid materials consisting of synthetic and unnatural amino acids, glycopeptides, proteoglycans, and other molecular modifications are disclosed, for a variety of purposes including rapid antidote and vaccine applications in biodefense, therapeutics, diagnostics, theranostics, thin films, multilayered assemblies, biofilms, sensors, drug delivery vehicles, gene delivery vehicles, gene editing vehicles, staged release compounds, and the like.
Fluid deposition appartus and method
The present disclosure relates to a micro-fluidic probe card that deposits a fluidic chemical onto a substrate with a minimal amount of fluidic chemical waste, and an associated method of operation. In some embodiments, the micro-fluidic probe card has a probe card body with a first side and a second side. A sealant element, which contacts a substrate, is connected to the second side of the probe card body in a manner that forms a cavity within an interior of the sealant element. A fluid inlet, which provides a fluid from a processing tool to the cavity, is a first conduit extending between the first side and the second side of the probe card body. A fluid outlet, which removes the fluid from the cavity, is a second conduit extending between the first side and the second side of the probe card body.
Microfluidic flow process for making linear polymers
The present invention relates to a microfluidic flow process for making polymers, polymers made by such processes, and methods of using such polymers. In such process, a novel reagent delivery setup is used in conjunction with microfluidic reaction technology to synthesize anionic polymerization reaction products from superheated monomer orders of magnitude faster than is possible in batch and continuous syntheses. The aforementioned process does not require the cryogenic temperatures which are required for such syntheses in batch or bulk continuous. Thus the aforementioned process is more economically efficient and reduces the environmental impact of linear polymer production.
RADIOPHARMACEUTICAL LABELING DEVICE
An automated apparatus and method for producing a 68Ga radiopharmaceutical is provided. The apparatus can direct fluid flow through a radiopharmaceutical generator, a vessel in a temperature controlled reactor, and a solid phase extraction cartridge to produce a final radiopharmaceutical product without human intervention under a clean environment.
