METHOD OF ESTIMATING A LINE WIDTH OF A NANOPARTICLE LINE FORMED USING A CAPILLARY TUBE, AND RELATED METHODS

A method of obtaining a numerical model is disclosed. The numerical model correlates estimated line width values to minimum pressure for gas bubble generation (MPGBG) values. An MPGBG value of each capillary tube in the reference group is measured for a liquid. A nanoparticle composition is deposited, under standard conditions, on substrate(s) from each respective reference capillary tube, to form nanoparticle lines. A line width of each of the nanoparticle lines deposited using each respective reference capillary tube is measured by a microscope apparatus. A numerical model that correlates estimated line width values to MPGBG values for the liquid is calculated.

PIPETTE AND LIQUID COLLECTION METHOD
20210373044 · 2021-12-02 · ·

In a capillary of a pipette, first and second ends in a longitudinal direction are opened. A pressure chamber communicates through the second end with an internal portion of the capillary. A driving part changes a volume of the pressure chamber. A control part outputs a first signal driving the driving part so that the volume of the pressure chamber increases and liquid is suctioned from the first end. A suction signal in the first signal drives the driving part so that the volume of the pressure chamber increases from a volume before suction of the liquid by a first increase amount to become a post-suction volume. A brake signal is output following the suction signal and drives the driving part so that the volume of the pressure chamber is reduced from the post-suction volume by an amount which is smaller in absolute value than the first increase amount.

An adapter assembly for receiving a capillary includes a passage, into which the capillary is or can be received. The adapter assembly has an adapter cone which is configured for being received in or on a correspondingly configured counter cone. The adapter cone, at least over a section for bringing the adapter cone into contact with the counter cone, includes an elastic material that is more elastic than the material of the counter cone. The invention further relates to a counterpart for connecting to the adapter, to an apparatus and to a method for automatically exchanging capillaries.

Handheld solids dispenser

A handheld solids dispenser. The dispenser includes a housing defining an inlet passage and an outlet passage. A delivery mechanism is supported within the housing and is positioned between the inlet passage and the outlet passage. Actuation of the delivery mechanism causes the delivery mechanism to transport a desired amount of solids material from the inlet passage to the outlet passage. The delivery member may be in the form of a plunger slidably positioned within the housing. The delivery mechanism may be in the form of a screw conveyor driven by a drive motor.

A liquid evaluation system can include a cartridge including a channel configured to pull a liquid into the channel by capillary action. The cartridge can include an upper plate and a lower plate located in close proximity to the upper plate. The lower plate includes a deposition region for dispensing liquid. The extent of the deposition region in one or more directions can be defined by a repellant barrier, such as a boundary with a set of areas configured to be repellant to the liquid. An internal facing surface of each plate can include a corresponding region forming the channel. Each of the regions can be configured to have an affinity for the liquid. The close proximity of the plates and the regions having an affinity for the liquid cause the liquid to be pulled into the channel by capillary action.
