THIN-SHEET FORMED PRODUCT HAVING THREE-DIMENSIONAL SURFACE MICROSTRUCTURE, FUEL CELL SEPARATOR, AND METHOD AND FACILITY FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
To provide a sheet formed product that, in addition to being thin, has a small groove interval, groove width, and groove depth, that has a large contact surface area with oxygen gas or hydrogen gas, that is suitable for simply and at low cost producing a lightweight compact separator, and a manufacturing method for same. In the sheet formed product (amorphous thin sheet) according to the present invention, a metal matrix on which is formed a passivation layer on a surface layer thereof and that exhibits corrosion resistance has a three-dimensional surface structure, for example a groove-like uneven shape on a surface thereof. On the front surface having the uneven shape (or also on the back surface), particles of a conductive material component penetrate the passivation layer, and are exposed on the surface without being in solid solution in the metal matrix.
APPARATUS, AND PROCESS FOR COLD SPRAY DEPOSITION OF THERMOELECTRIC SEMICONDUCTOR AND OTHER POLYCRYSTALLINE MATERIALS AND METHOD FOR MAKING POLYCRYSTALLINE MATERIALS FOR COLD SPRAY DEPOSITION
An apparatus and method perform supersonic cold-spraying to deposit N and P-type thermoelectric semiconductor, and other polycrystalline materials on other materials of varying complex shapes. The process developed has been demonstrated for bismuth and antimony telluride formulations as well as Tetrahedrite type copper sulfosalt materials. Both thick and thin layer thermoelectric semiconductor material is deposited over small or large areas to flat and highly complex shaped surfaces and will therefore help create a far greater application set for thermoelectric generator (TEG) systems. This process when combined with other manufacturing processes allows the total additive manufacturing of complete thermoelectric generator based waste heat recovery systems. The processes also directly apply to both thermoelectric cooler (TEC) systems, thermopile devices, and other polycrystalline functional material applications.
NOZZLE CONSTRUCTION FOR THERMAL SPRAYING BY MEANS OF A SUSPENSION OR A PRECURSOR SOLUTION
The invention relates to the nozzle construction for thermal spraying by means of a suspension, in which particles are contained, or a precursor solution, by means of which particles or precursor solution a layer is formed on a substrate, and which suspension or precursor solution is fed into a burner chamber or into a plasma torch, in which heating and acceleration of the particles is achieved, wherein a connection point for feeding the suspension or the precursor solution, a holder, and a nozzle insert are present. The nozzle insert has, with a tubular element arranged in the direction of the burner chamber or perpendicularly in HVOF flame or plasma torch and with an end face arranged opposite the burner chamber, a flange-shaped expanded section, which lies against a seat formed in the holder in the installed state. The contours of the flange-shaped expanded section and of the seat are complementary to each other such that the surfaces of the flange-shaped expanded section and of the seat are in direct contact with each other and an end stop and a seal are formed in this region.
Device for forming amorphous film and method for forming same
PROBLEM: To provide a large device and a method which is advantageous for forming a large-area amorphous film. SOLUTION: A device of the invention sprays a flame including a particulate material with a spraying machine toward a substrate, melts the material with the flame, and cools the material and flame by cooling gas before they reach the substrate to form an amorphous film. The spraying machine has particulate material spraying ports and flame spraying ports such that the flame including the material has an oblong cross section. Inert gas spraying ports are successively placed on both sides across the ports of the material and flame. Mist spraying ports are successively placed on both sides across the ports for the material, flame and inert gas. A skirt is attached/detached depending on a combustion gas or a film width to restrain film width narrowing and increase of film thickness deviation.
POWDER ROTARY FEEDTHROUGH HAVING A PURGE CHAMBER
A rotary feedthrough for the feedthrough of a powder-gas mixture from a stationary machine part into a rotating machine part, with a seal in the form of two flat circular-ring-shaped sliding seal surfaces arranged one on the other in a sliding manner, which sliding seal surfaces are arranged concentric to the axis of rotation of the rotating machine part and which can be moved apart from each other in the axial direction, so that they form a gap, wherein the seal is embedded in a purge chamber having at least one gas inlet and at least one gas outlet.

Cold spray nozzle
A spray nozzle has a body having a flow passage. At least along a portion of the flow passage the body has a depth-wise compositional variation having: a cemented carbide first region; and a cemented carbide second region closer to the flow passage than the first region and having a higher boron content than a boron content, if any, of the first region.
ONE-STEP METHODS FOR CREATING FLUID-TIGHT, FULLY DENSE COATINGS
A fluid tight, fully-densified, coating is prepared by a High Velocity Oxygen Fuel (HVOF) process that dilutes oxygen with an inert gas. The inert gas is pre-mixed with oxygen prior to the oxygen entering a combustion chamber. The resultant flame temperature is lowered a controlled amount to eliminate, minimize or reduce oxidation of power feedstock that is injected into the thermal spray torch. The ability to reduce the flame temperature allows a relatively smaller particle feedstock to be deposited without significant oxidation. The dilution process creates an as-deposited fully-dense, fluid tight coating.
