The first rollers and the second rollers are provided on opposite sides of the elongated thermo-softening material for compressing the thermo-softening material to form the thermo-softening material.

In such a system, two films move adjacent to one another, optionally in opposite directions, atop two rollers separated by a known gap that defines a coating thickness, with the material being transferred from one film to the other. The rollers may be maintained in their relative positions by springs and/or linear actuators and positioned using linear encoders. In alternative arrangements, the material to be coated could be low viscosity material such as a polymeric solution. Air knives may be provided near the gap to create an air flow that aids in preventing the free flow of low viscosity materials outside the bounds of the film during coating.

The present disclosure relates to the technical field of lithium-ion battery (LIB) separator preparation and in particular to a dispensing device for a LIB separator. The dispensing device for a LIB separator mainly includes a coating adhesive transferring device, a feed amount controller, and a planar bottom roll. The coating adhesive transferring device includes an adhesive accommodating device and a relief roll. Accommodating grooves for accommodating adhesives are provided on the adhesive accommodating device. Transferring protrusions are arranged on a rolling surface of the relief roll. The relief roll is located between the adhesive accommodating device and the planar bottom roll. The transferring protrusions are inserted into the accommodating grooves at a place where the relief roll contacts the adhesive accommodating device. The feed amount controller is configured to detect and control the feed amounts when the transferring protrusions are inserted into the accommodating grooves. The planar bottom roll is located under the relief roll. A film passing gap for allowing a coating film to pass through is provided between the planar bottom roll and the relief roll. The thicknesses of coating layers formed with the dispensing device are larger, and thicknesses and coverage rates of adhesive points are controlled simply and conveniently.

Such gap spreads the dispensed material over the donor foil, coating the donor foil with a layer of the material with a uniform thickness associated with the gap width. Each roller is supported on a holder. Adjustment of the gap width may be effected by keeping the position of one of the holders fixed, while horizontally translating the position of the other holder. The position of the translatable holder may be adjusted by pistons and linear actuators. The pistons may bias the moveable holder towards the stationary holder. The linear actuators mounted on the moveable holder may extend respective arms against the stationary holder, thereby countering the biasing of the pistons and pushing the moveable holder away from the stationary holder.

It is further provided with a regulating device which is in signal connection with the displacement device, a gap regulating unit in order to adjust a gap width of the gap between the first corrugating roller and the glue application roller, and a contact force regulating unit in order to adjust a contact force applied to the first corrugating roller by the glue application roller.
