Systems and methods for applying a liquid coating to a substrate

System and methods for calibrating a coating system are disclosed. Initially, a material is dispensed using an applicator of the coating system for a predetermined time period. A characteristic of the dispensing of the material for the predetermined time period is then determined. The characteristic of the dispensing of the material is compared to a predetermined range and it is determined that the characteristic of the dispensing of the material is outside of the predetermined range. In response, a velocity of the applicator, a pulse rate of the applicator, a temperature of the material, a pressure of the material supplied to the applicator, or a fan width of the applicator is adjusted to change the characteristic of the dispensing of the material.

Electrically operated pressure control valve

A hot melt dispensing system is described. The hot melt dispensing system includes a melter that melts solid material into hot melt, a pump that pumps the hot melt from the melter to at least one applicator, and a pressure control system that controls a pressure of pressurized air for operating the pump. The pressure control system includes a regulator assembly that controls the pressure of the pressurized air, and a drive component that actuates the regulator assembly. The hot melt dispensing system also includes a controller that determines a pressure setting for the pressurized air. The drive component receives the pressure setting from the controller and actuates the regulator assembly to a position associated with the pressure setting.

COATING DEVICE

To provide a coating device which can precisely adjust a discharge amount of high-viscosity material. The coating device coats a high-viscosity material onto a workpiece, and includes a coating gun (2) which discharges the high-viscosity material having flowed in from an inlet port (211) from a discharge port (251); a supply mechanism which pushes out the high-viscosity material to supply from an injection nozzle; and a supply tube which connects the inlet port (211) and supply port. The coating gun (2) includes, at a gun flow channel (3a) from the inlet port (211) until the discharge port (251), a gear pump (31) and needle valve (26) as a discharge amount adjustment mechanism which adjusts the discharge amount of the high-viscosity material from the discharge port (251).
