The present disclosure sets forth an automated apparatus and method for applying gas plasma coatings to aircraft engine parts. The process and apparatus employ a plurality of sensors which continually monitor various process parameters associated with the coating process. If any of the measured parameters fall out of tolerance, the coating process is interrupted to allow a user to fix the source of the problem, where upon the process is reengaged. Moreover, the process and apparatus employ a pause resume circuit which uses predetermined durations for pausing and resuming the coating process.

A remote metering station for pumping a flow of adhesive to a dispensing module is disclosed. The remote metering station includes a manifold having a front surface, a back surface opposite to the front surface, a first side surface, a second side surface opposite the first side surface, a top surface, and a bottom surface opposite to said top surface. The remote metering station also includes a modular pump assembly removably mounted to the manifold, where the modular pump assembly includes a bottom surface, an outlet on the bottom surface, the outlet being in fluid communication with the manifold, and an inlet for receiving the adhesive. The modular pump assembly further includes a gear assembly and a drive motor coupled to the gear assembly. The gear assembly is operable for pumping the adhesive from the inlet to the outlet.

High-Purity Dispense Unit

Techniques herein include a bladder-based dispense system using an elongate bladder configured to selectively expand and contract to assist with dispense actions. This dispense system compensates for filter-lag, which often accompanies fluid filtering for microfabrication. This dispense system also provides a high-purity and high precision dispense unit. A modular hydraulic unit houses the elongate bladder and hydraulic fluid in contact with an exterior surface of the bladder. When pressurized process fluid is in the elongate bladder, hydraulic controls can selectively reduce pressure on the bladder to cause expansion, and then selectively increase hydraulic pressure to assist with a dispense action.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR APPLYING A LIQUID COATING TO A SUBSTRATE

System and methods for calibrating a coating system are disclosed. Initially, a material is dispensed using an applicator of the coating system for a predetermined time period. A characteristic of the dispensing of the material for the predetermined time period is then determined. The characteristic of the dispensing of the material is compared to a predetermined range and it is determined that the characteristic of the dispensing of the material is outside of the predetermined range. In response, a velocity of the applicator, a pulse rate of the applicator, a temperature of the material, a pressure of the material supplied to the applicator, or a fan width of the applicator is adjusted to change the characteristic of the dispensing of the material.
