An optical device coating assembly is provided. The optical device coating assembly includes a substrate support operable to retain an optical device substrate. The coating assembly further includes a first actuator connected to the substrate support. The first actuator is configured to rotate the substrate support. The coating assembly includes a holder configured to hold a coating applicator against an edge of the optical device substrate when the optical device substrate is rotated on the substrate support and a second actuator operable to apply a force on the holder in a direction towards the substrate support. The second actuator is a constant force actuator.
COATING METHOD OF NON-NEWTONIAN FLUID MATERIAL AND COATING SYSTEM THEREOF
A coating method of a non-Newtonian fluid material and a coating system thereof are provided. The coating method includes the following steps. An equation of shear rate and shear viscosity of the non-Newtonian fluid material represented by equation (1) is obtained:
wherein is shear viscosity, .sub.0 is zero shear viscosity, {dot over ()} is shear rate, and n is power-law index. An initial gap between a coating apparatus and a substrate and a thickness of a film of the non-Newtonian fluid material to be formed are set. The non-Newtonian fluid material is coated on the substrate in a non-constant coating velocity manner using the coating apparatus. The shear viscosity of the non-Newtonian fluid material is obtained from equation (1) according to the coating velocity and thickness of the non-Newtonian fluid material. The gap between the coating apparatus and the substrate is adjusted according to the shear viscosity, coating velocity, and thickness.
Slot-die coating method and apparatus
A slot-die coating apparatus for manufacturing a patterned coating layer (3) on a substrate (1) comprises a substrate carrier (6), a coating device, a sensor facility (70) and a controller (80). The substrate carrier (6) is arranged on a support for providing the substrate (1). The coating device comprises a head-side unit and a support-side unit (50, 55; 52 resp.) that are mutually movable with respect to each other by a motor (52, 56). The head-side unit comprises a translator part (52) and a slot-die coating head (2). The support-side unit (55) comprises a stator part (56) of the motor. The controller (80) controls the motor (52) to position the slot-die coating head at a desired distance (Ds). The support-side unit (55) has a mass that is at least equal to the mass of the head-side unit (50), and the support-side unit (55) is flexibly coupled to the support (60).
Railroad Tie Plugging System
Systems and methods for automated repair and maintenance operations on a railroad track comprise a work head that is automatically moved over the railroad track according to a predetermined pattern, such as the movement of an applicator for tie plugging compound according to a predetermined pattern of spike holes. The automated repair and maintenance operations may be coupled to systems and methods for automatically detecting a feature on a railroad track that comprise two or more distance measurement sensors that travel over the railroad track. Features on the railroad track are detected where the distance measured by each sensor falls within two different predetermined distance ranges.
Vehicle wheel decoration method and decoration device
A vehicle wheel decoration method includes a setting step of detachably holding a wheel body in the holding member such that the wheel design face faces the discharge nozzle, and a decoration step of forming a decorative layer on the wheel design face by discharging paint from a discharge opening of the discharge nozzle toward the wheel design face while relatively moving the discharge nozzle in two directions with respect to the wheel design face of the wheel body held in the holding member, and, in the decoration step, the wheel body is relatively inclined in a direction which crosses moving directions toward the two directions by a relative move of one of the discharge nozzle and the holding member or relative moves of both of the discharge nozzle and the holding member, and the discharge opening of the discharge nozzle is relatively moved in the two directions.

BLACKBODY MATERIAL APPLICATION SYSTEM FOR A TURBINE
A blackbody material application system for a turbine. The system includes a blackbody material supply and a moveable hose connected to the blackbody material supply wherein the hose sprays blackbody material onto a selected area within the turbine. The system also includes a rotatable bracket that holds the hose, wherein rotation of the bracket moves the hose toward the selected area within the turbine to enable application of the blackbody material onto the selected area. In addition, the system includes a motor for rotating the bracket and a moveable arm that holds the bracket wherein the bracket is inserted through an opening in the turbine and movement of the arm enables positioning of the bracket and hose in relative close proximity to the selected area suitable for spraying blackbody material onto the selected area.
