Method for manufacturing electrode and electrode paste coating device

A method for manufacturing an electrode is provided, the method including coating and drying of an electrode paste and being able to highly suppress variations in the weight per unit area of the active material layer. The method for manufacturing an electrode disclosed herein includes the steps of: coating an electrode paste onto a current collecting foil from a die; and drying the coated electrode paste. Here, the current collecting foil is conveyed by a backup roll. A variation in at least one of thickness and width of the coated electrode paste is measured. The peripheral speed of the backup roll is changed according to a measurement result of the variation so that the variation becomes small.

A negative electrode manufacturing device for a secondary battery includes a dual slot die having an upper block, a middle block, and a lower block, a first slot provided through a gap between the upper and middle blocks and a second slot provided through a gap between the middle and lower blocks. The first and second slots discharge a first negative electrode slurry. The device further includes a coating roll opposite the first and second slots that transfers an electrode sheet coated with the negative electrode slurry discharged from each slot. The upper block, the middle block, and the lower block include an upper lip, a middle lip, and a lower lip forming an outlet at a front end of each block. The upper and lower lips exhibit a magnetism of a same polarity, and the middle and upper lips exhibit a magnetism having an opposite polarity.

An ultraviolet bottom coating system including a conveyor mechanism configured to route a plurality of cans in a machine direction, wherein the plurality of cans each have a bottom surface and uncured coating material applied on the bottom surface. The system also includes at least one ultraviolet light-emitting diode (UV-LED) device configured to emit ultraviolet radiation towards the plurality of cans, wherein the ultraviolet radiation is configured to cure the uncured coating material onto the bottom surface.
