Surface modification method for three-dimensional object and syringe gasket
The present invention provides methods of modifying the surfaces of a plurality of three-dimensional objects at the same time to provide good sliding properties, good durability after repeated sliding, good sealing properties, and the like, and also provides gaskets for syringes obtained by such methods. The present invention relates to a method for modifying the surfaces of a plurality of three-dimensional objects including: a step 1 of immersing a plurality of three-dimensional objects in a photopolymerizable monomer-containing liquid; and a step 2 of polymerizing the photopolymerizable monomer by photoirradiation while rotating a vessel containing the plurality of three-dimensional objects and the photopolymerizable monomer-containing liquid, to grow polymer chains on the surfaces of the plurality of three-dimensional objects.
ANIONIC ELECTROCHEMICAL COMPRESSOR AND REFRIGERATION SYSTEM EMPLOYING SAME
An electrochemical compressor utilizes an anion conducting layer disposed between an anode and a cathode for transporting a working fluid. The working fluid may include carbon dioxide that is dissolved in water and is partially converted to carbonic acid that is equilibrium with bicarbonate anion. An electrical potential across the anode and cathode creates a pH gradient that drives the bicarbonate anion across the anion conducting layer to the cathode, wherein it is reformed into carbon dioxide. Therefore, carbon dioxide is pumped across the anion conducting layer. The compressor may be part of a refrigeration system that pumps the working fluid in a closed loop through a condenser and an evaporator.
RE-LINED PIPE TECHNIQUE FOR WEAR MITIGATION IN SLURRY TRANSPORT PIPELINE
The present invention provides apparatus, including a pigging tool, that comprises a spraying mechanism configured to move along an inner surface of a pipeline, including a slurry transport pipeline in a minable oilsands facility or plant, and to spray a coating on the inner surface of the pipeline; and a curing source, including an ultraviolet (UV) light source, a microwave source or an RF source, configured to cure the coating sprayed on the inner surface of the pipeline in situ as the spray mechanism moves along the inner surface of the pipeline.
ALLYL ACRYLATE CROSSLINKERS FOR PSAS
An (meth)acrylate pressure-sensitive adhesive copolymer is described prepared by crosslinking with a (meth)acrylic crosslinking monomer containing an allyl group.
Device and method for the decoration of objects
A device and a method for the decoration of objects to be decorated, wherein the object is held by a holding device. In a first step decorative material is applied to a transfer medium by a printing device. In a second step adhesive is applied to the transfer medium provided with the decorative material or to the object, and in a third step the transfer medium is pressed onto the object by a pressing device and at the same time the adhesive is cured by a curing device.
ANTI-FOG COATINGS AND METHODS
An anti-fog coating and preparation thereof are provided. The anti-fog coating comprises a cationically polymerizable compound including at least one epoxy group, a radically polymerizable compound including at least one acrylate group, a non-ionic surfactant and an ionic surfactant.
Polyimide precursor, polyimide, and coating solution for under layer film for image formation
There is provided a polyimide precursor which can alter the hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity of the surface of a cured film formed readily even by a low level of ultraviolet ray irradiation; and a polyimide produced from the polyimide precursor. The polyimide precursor having a structure represented by the following formula (1): ##STR00001##
where A represents a tetravalent organic group; B represents a bivalent organic group having a thiol ester bond in its main chain; R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently represent a hydrogen atom or a univalent organic group; and n represents a natural number.
Orienting magnetic flakes within a binder layer
A deposition device may deposit, on a substrate, a binder layer that includes a first set of magnetic flakes and a second set of magnetic flakes and may cause, when a temperature of the binder layer satisfies a temperature threshold (e.g., a Curie temperature of the first set of magnetic flakes), a magnetic field to be applied to the binder layer to cause the first set of magnetic flakes and the second set of magnetic flakes to be oriented according to the magnetic field. The deposition device may cause, when the temperature of the binder layer ceases to satisfy the temperature threshold, another magnetic field to be applied to the binder layer to cause only the second set of magnetic flakes to be oriented according to the other magnetic field.
INFRARED REFLECTING SUBSTRATE
Infrared reflecting substrate includes, on a transparent film base, an infrared reflecting layer mainly made of silver and a light absorptive metal layer in this order. The light absorptive metal layer has a thickness of 15 nm or less, and a transparent protective layer has a thickness of 10 nm to 120 nm. The distance between the light absorptive metal layer and the transparent protective layer is 25 nm or less.
METHOD OF MASKING AND PRETREATING A PLASTIC PART PRIOR TO BEING SPRAY-PAINTED
A method of masking and pretreating a plastic part prior to being spray-painted including the steps of providing a plastic part having one or more adhesive bond lines. The plastic part is typically an exterior automotive component having a painted show surface. Examples of plastic parts include but are not limited to lift gates, running boards, door trim pieces, spoilers, tail gates, front fascias and rear fascias. The method can also be used in connection with metal parts or any other application where a surface of the part will be painted and other surfaces on the part need to be protected from direct paint spray or paint overspray.
