COATING COMPOSITION
The present invention provides a coating composition which has excellent trickle resistance and forms a coating film that exhibits excellent gloss stability. A coating composition which contains a hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin (A), a polyisocyanate compound (B), a matting agent (C), an organic solvent (D1) and an organic solvent (D2), and which is characterized in that: the organic solvent (D1) has a boiling point within the range of 190-250° C. and a solubility parameter of from 9 to 11 (inclusive); the organic solvent (D2) has a boiling point within the range of 100-140° C. and a solubility parameter of 8 or more but less than 9; and with respect to the contents of the organic solvent (D1) and the organic solvent (D2) based on 100 parts by mass of the total solid content of the hydroxyl group-containing acrylic resin (A) and the polyisocyanate compound (B), the content of the organic solvent (D1) is within the range of 5-40 parts by mass and the content of the organic solvent (D2) is within the range of 35-75 parts by mass.

Described herein is a process for producing a multilayer coating (MC) on a substrate (S), the process including producing at least one basecoat layer, optionally at least one clearcoat layer, at least one layer including a mixture of glass flakes and at least one further clearcoat layer and jointly curing all applied layers. Also described herein is a multilayer coating obtained by the described process.

A process including positioning a coating head to define a gap between a first external opening in flow communication with a source of a first coating liquid, and a major surface of a substrate; creating relative motion between the first coating head and the substrate; dispensing a pre-determined quantity of the first coating liquid to form a discrete patch in a predetermined position on the substrate's major surface; positioning a second coating head to define a gap between a second external opening in flow communication with a source of a second coating liquid and a major surface of the patch; creating relative motion between the second coating head and the substrate, and dispensing a pre-determined quantity of the second coating liquid to form a discontinuous pattern on the patch's major surface. The first and optionally the second coating liquids exhibit a viscosity as dispensed of at least 1 Pascal-sec.

A clear coating method comprising: applying a clear paint on a topcoat base coating film (21) under a first coating condition, and thereby forming a first wet clear coating film in a first stage (14A); successively applying a clear paint on the first wet clear coating film under a second coating condition different from the first coating condition without baking the first wet clear coating film, and thereby forming a second wet clear coating film in a second stage (14B); and baking the first wet clear coating film and the second wet clear coating film and thereby forming a clear coating film, wherein a painted non-volatility value of the clear paint in the second stage is larger than a painted non-volatility value of the clear paint in the first stage, an average atomized paint particle size of the clear paint in the second stage is smaller than an average atomized paint particle size of the clear paint in the first stage, and a thickness of the second wet clear coating film is thinner than a thickness of the first wet clear coating film.

At least one of the basecoat materials is admixed, directly before application, either with an aqueous dispersion (D1) comprising a polyamide (PA) having an acid number of 15 to 60 mg KOH/g or with an aqueous dispersion (D2) comprising a polyamide (PA) and an amide wax (AW).

COATING COMPOSITION, COATED ARTICLE AND METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
A coating composition includes a binder component (A), a flake-like aluminum pigment (B) having an average particle diameter (d50) of 18 μm to 25 μm, and a flake-like pigment (C) being a flake-like pigment other than flake-like aluminum pigments and having an average particle diameter (d50) of 8 μm to 30 μm. A content of the flake-like aluminum pigment (B) is 10 parts by mass to 50 parts by mass and a content of the flake-like pigment (C) is 0.5 parts by mass to 10 parts by mass, based on 100 parts by mass of the binder component (A). A content ratio (B)/(C) of the flake-like aluminum pigment (B) to the flake-like pigment (C) is 2/1 to 50/1 in terms of a solid content mass ratio.

An anticorrosive coating includes a first curable liquid layer to the associated substrate, the first layer having a thickness of at least about 100 micrometers, wherein the first layer includes at least one polymer or at least one monomer, quasi-one-dimensional particles or quasi-two-dimensional particles, sacrificial metal particles, and a solvent, wherein a percolation threshold of the particles is not reached in the presence of the solvent, wherein the percolation threshold of the particles is reached when between about 1% and about 20% of the solvent evaporates, applying a second curable liquid layer having a thickness of at least 100 micrometers on the top of the first layer after the percolation threshold of the particles is reached and viscosity of the first layer increases more than 50%, and allowing the first layer and the second layer to cure simultaneously.
AQUEOUS COATING MATERIAL COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
An object is to provide an aqueous coating material composition having high viscosity expression property as well as a viscosity property of decreasing viscosity with increase in shear velocity; in particular, to provide an aqueous coating material composition that can form a multilayer coating film having excellent smoothness, clarity, flip-flop property, adhesion, and water resistance; in addition, to provide a method for forming a multilayer coating film using such aqueous coating material composition, as well as a coated article that has been coated with such aqueous coating material composition. Coating composition and method for forming multilayer coating film
The present invention provides a coating composition capable of forming a coating film having a good appearance and design of a coating film and having coating film properties such as scratch resistance with a good balance. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method for forming a multilayer coating film including forming a coating film using the coating composition of the present invention.
