A method of treating PVC plates as well as plates and panels manufactured by this method. The plates and panels, in particular wall, ceiling or floor panels, comprise a heat-treated carrier plate based on polyvinyl chloride with a density of, for example, 900 to 2,500 kg/m.sup.3 and a film applied thereon. The film is a thin PVC-film and comprises a decorative pattern directly printed thereon.

Described herein are an aqueous pigment paste including at least one color pigment (a) and at least one polymer (b) which is preparable by successive radical emulsion polymerization of three monomer mixtures (A), (B) and (C) of olefinically unsaturated monomers in water, an aqueous basecoat material which is preparable by admixing the pigment paste to at least one aqueous binder-containing component suitable for preparing the basecoat material, a method for producing a multicoat paint system using this basecoat material, and use of the polymer (b) for dispersing color pigments within an aqueous pigment paste.
POLYCARBOXYLIC ACID-CONTAINING AQUEOUS COATING AGENT HAVING AN IMPROVED EFFECT PIGMENT ALIGNMENT
Described herein are an aqueous coating composition including at least one anionically stabilized binder, effect pigment, polycarboxylic acid, and solvent, and a method for producing a multicoat paint system by producing a basecoat directly on a substrate, producing a clearcoat directly on the basecoat, and then jointly curing the basecoat and the clearcoat. At least one of the basecoat materials includes the aqueous coating. Also described herein are multicoat paint system obtainable by this method, and the use of at least one polycarboxylic acid in an aqueous coating composition for improving the effect pigment orientation, or for color matching.
COATING COMPOSITION HAVING HIGH SOLID CONTENT AND METHOD FOR FORMING MULTILAYER COATING FILM
A high-solid-content coating composition includes: (A) a hydroxy group-containing acrylic resin having an acid value in a range of 0 mgKOH/g to 30 mgKOH/g; (B) a hydroxy group-containing acrylic resin having an acid value in a range of 60 mgKOH/g to 120 mgKOH/g; and (C) a polyisocyanate compound, in which a solid content at the time of coating is 50 mass % or more.

The present invention relates to a panel, in particular a wall, ceiling or floor panel, comprising a carrier plate (12) based on polyvinyl chloride with a density of, for example, 900 to 2,500 kg/m.sup.3 and a film (17) applied thereon. The film is a thin PVC-film and comprises a decorative pattern (18) directly printed thereon.
LOW TEMPERATURE CURING 1K BASECOAT AND METHOD TO COAT A SUBSTRATE WITH THE 1K BASECOAT
A storage stable one component aqueous basecoat composition containing a melamine formaldehyde crosslinker and a resin having groups reactive to the melamine formaldehyde crosslinker under acid catalysis is provided. The basecoat composition is curable at a temperature of 110° C. or less when cured wet on wet with a solvent borne clear coat composition containing a polyisocyanate crosslinker. Also provided is a wet on wet two layer coating containing the one component aqueous basecoat and the solvent borne clear coat, a wet on wet three layer coating containing an aqueous primer, the one component aqueous basecoat and the solvent borne clear coat and a cured topcoat coating obtained by curing the wet on wet two layer coating.

Curable compositions comprising 1,1-di-activated vinyl compounds are provided herein. Also provided are coatings formed from 1,1-di-activated vinyl compounds. Also provided are processes for coating substrates and articles. Curable compositions including 1,1-di-activated vinyl compounds that function as crosslinking agents are described.
SURFACE CONTROL AGENT FOR WATER-BASED COATING, WATER-BASED COATING COMPOSITION, COATING FILM, AND MULTILAYER COATING FILM
[Problem] To provide a surface control agent for a water-based coating, the surface control agent having both cissing prevention properties and overcoatability when used for applications requiring excellent appearance and overcoatability. [Solution] The surface control agent for a water-based coating includes: a copolymer containing, as constituent monomers, a dibasic acid ester (A) having a polymerizable unsaturated double bond in an amount of 10% by mass or more and 99% by mass or less, and an ether group-containing polymerizable unsaturated monomer (B) having a (meth)acryloyl group, a vinyl ether group, or an allyl group in an amount of 1% by mass or more and 90% by mass or less, wherein the copolymer has a weight-average molecular weight of 1,000 or more and 100,000 or less.
Dimer fatty acid-containing reaction product and coating composition comprising the reaction product
The present invention relates to a reaction product preparable by reacting (a) dimer fatty acids with (b) at least one compound (b) of the general structural formula (I) ##STR00001## where R is a C.sub.3 to C.sub.6 alkylene radical and n correspondingly is selected such that the compound (b) possesses a number-average molecular weight of 120 to 445 g/mol, components (a) and (b) are used in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.6/1.7, and the resulting reaction product possesses a number-average molecular weight of 600 to 4000 g/mol and an acid number of less than 10 mg KOH/g. The invention further relates to a pigmented aqueous basecoat material which comprises this reaction product, and to the use of the reaction product in pigmented aqueous basecoat materials for improving adhesion. The present invention further relates to a method for producing multicoat paint systems, and also to the multicoat paint systems producible by means of said method.
Fast coating compositions and methods
A method of providing an anticorrosive coating includes applying a first curable liquid layer to the associated substrate, the first layer having a thickness of at least about 100 micrometers, wherein the first layer includes at least one polymer or at least one monomer, quasi-one-dimensional particles or quasi-two-dimensional particles, sacrificial metal particles, and a solvent, wherein a percolation threshold of the particles is not reached in the presence of the solvent, wherein the percolation threshold of the particles is reached when between about 1% and about 20% of the solvent evaporates, applying a second curable liquid layer having a thickness of at least 100 micrometers on the top of the first layer after the percolation threshold of the particles is reached and viscosity of the first layer increases more than 50%, and allowing the first layer and the second layer to cure simultaneously.
