Fly fishing lure having a trailing feather portion
10292376 · 2019-05-21 · ·

A fishing lure utilizes a substantial portion of a game bird neck feather, such as a pheasant neck feather. A substantial portion of the feather, such as at least 75% of the entire length of the feather, is coupled to the lure, including a portion of the quill. A fishing lure may have one or more trailing feathers, or feathers that extend from the back of the hook, and may have one or more leading feathers, or feathers that extend forward from the hook. A trailing feather length, or length of feather from the hook turn may be at least 50% of the hook length and a leading feather length, may be at least 50% of the hook length. The feathers may be configured with their convex sides facing each other to produce a flared orientation wherein the feathers flare out and away from each other as they extend from the hook.

A fishing lure assembly includes: a skirt mount from which a shank extends, the skirt mount having a non-circular profile with a maximum width; a skirt including a plurality of strands and a collar with a non-circular opening having a maximum dimension that is greater than the maximum width of the skirt mount. The skirt can be installed upon the skirt mount by passing the skirt mount through the opening when the maximum width of the skirt mount is aligned with the maximum dimension of the opening. The skirt is maintained as installed upon the skirt mount when the maximum width of the skirt mount is rotated out of alignment with the maximum dimension of the opening.

Lifelike soft fishing lure system and method of manufacturing

A fishing lure component and system is provided for soft baits which is highly strain resistant and tear resistant in the major stress longitudinally while placid in the vertical axis. The component employs a textile comprised of synthetic or natural fibers of dimension and configuration to dissipate penetration damage from hooking, or fish biting over the adjacent fibers providing protection of stresses up to 100 times that of soft bait lures. Component allows for the forming and movement in use to replicate living bait creatures. System includes features for hook installation, 3 dimensional color appearance thru polymer, infinite variation coloration, over-molding, and coating.
