Implants using ultrasonic communication for neural sensing and stimulation

Described herein is an implantable medical device that includes a body having one or more ultrasonic transducers configured to receive ultrasonic waves and convert energy from the ultrasonic waves into an electrical energy, two or more electrodes in electrical communication with the ultrasonic transducer, and a clip attached to the body that is configured to at least partially surround a nerve and/or a filamentous tissue and position the two or more electrodes in electrical communication with the nerve. In certain examples, the implantable medical device includes two ultrasonic transducers with orthogonal polarization axes. Also described herein are methods for treating incontinence in a subject by converting energy from ultrasonic waves into an electrical energy that powers a full implanted medical device, and electrically stimulating a tibial nerve, a pudendal nerve, or a sacral nerve, or a branch thereof, using the fully implanted medical device.

A vibrator device includes a semiconductor substrate, a vibrator unit, a cover, and an insulating film. The vibrator unit is disposed at a first surface of the semiconductor substrate, and includes a vibrator element, and an excitation electrode disposed at the vibrator element and having a portion facing the semiconductor substrate. The cover is bonded to the first surface in a joint portion surrounding the vibrator unit. The insulating film is disposed at the first surface. The insulating film overlaps the portion of the excitation electrode in plan view, and is absent at the joint portion of the semiconductor substrate and the cover.

High frequency ultrasound transducer and method for manufacture

An ultrasound transducer has an array of transducer elements that are electrically coupled to electrical conductors. In one embodiment, the conductors are included in a flex circuit and engage a conductive surface formed on a number of outwardly extending ribs on a frame that holds the ultrasound array. In one embodiment, the flex circuit includes an alignment feature that engages a corresponding registration feature on the frame so that the traces on the flex circuit align with the ribs on the frame.

Vibration device

A vibration device includes a top plate elastic body, a cylindrical body that includes a first end portion and a second end portion and is coupled with the top plate elastic body to retain the top plate elastic body on a side of the first end portion. The cylindrical body includes on a side of the second end portion, a ring-shaped flange portion extended outward in a radial direction of the cylindrical body, and a piezoelectric element fixed to the ring-shaped flange portion to cause the cylindrical body to vibrate.

Piezo motor

The invention comprises a piezo motor with a U-shaped housing lower part and a mounted cover. The piezo actuator is mounted between two clamping jaws. Planar guide tracks are formed in the housing lower part to both sides of the piezo actuator. Bearing elements of circular cross-section are arranged between the clamping jaws and the guide tracks. Thrust pieces are braced between the housing cover and the bearing elements, which thrust pieces press the bearing elements against the clamping jaws. Here, the thrust pieces together with the guide tracks of the housing lower part form V-shaped guides.

PIEZOELECTRIC DEVICE

A piezoelectric device includes a beam portion with a fixed end portion and a free end portion opposite to the fixed end portion. The beam portion extends from the fixed end portion towards the free end portion. The beam portion includes a multilayer body including a piezoelectric layer and first and second electrode layers. A base is connected with the fixed end portion of the beam portion. As viewed from a layering direction of the multilayer body, the base surrounds the beam portion at an interval from the beam portion except for the fixed end portion. As viewed from the layering direction, an average of a dimension of a width of the beam portion in an orthogonal or substantially orthogonal direction to an extension direction of the beam portion is greater than a maximal dimension of a length thereof in the extension direction.

Tactile vibration generator

A tactile vibration generator includes a supporting block, a vibration plate, and a vibration actuator. The vibration plate includes two parts. The vibration actuator is attached to a surface of the first part and the first part is not in contact with the supporting block to reduce transferring vibration to the supporting block. The second part is fixed to the supporting block.

Ultrasound probe with row-column addressed array

An ultrasound probe can detect flaws in an object in a non-destructive manner. The probe includes a row-column addressed (RCA) array with a plurality of row and column electrodes. The row and column electrodes are configurable to have at least four states: 1) a transmission state, 2) a reception state, 3) a ground state, and 4) a high impedance state. The probe also includes a control circuit to operate the RCA array in different transmission and reception configurations.

Display panel and electronic device

A display panel and an electronic device are provided. The display panel may include a display layer, a protective layer and a support layer. The display layer may be arranged between the protective layer and the support layer. The support layer may be coupled to the display layer and may include a piezoelectric film layer. The piezoelectric film layer may drive the display layer and the protective layer to vibrate in response to determining that the piezoelectric film layer is deformed.
