Take-up device for strip
A take-up device includes a fluid-pressure device, a pressure detection device, a pressure calculation mechanism, and a controller. The fluid-pressure device is a device for expanding and contracting a mandrel. The pressure detection device detects a pressure of a hydraulic fluid in the fluid-pressure device. The pressure calculation mechanism calculates a tightening pressure acting on the mandrel, based on the pressure detected by the pressure detection device. The controller controls the fluid-pressure device. Also, the controller performs position control until the number of turns of a strip reaches a value. The controller performs constant-pressure control after the number of turns of the strip reaches the value.
Bead-ring winder
A winding unit is formed in an annular pattern along the outer circumferential surface of a rotary body rotatable about a shaft. The winding unit has multiple alignment grooves in which a wire is wound and turns of the wire are aligned. The winding unit is provided with an ungrooved part formed to straddle the alignment grooves.
IRONING ROLL THERMAL IMAGE MONITORING AND CONTROL
A metal processing system includes a roll and a control system. The roll includes a non-metal surface for contacting a metal substrate, and the control system includes a sensor for detecting a temperature of the non-metal surface of the roll. The control system also includes a controller, which receives the detected temperature from the sensor and controls the roll based on the detected temperature. A method of controlling the roll with the non-metal contact surface includes receiving a detected temperature of at least a portion of the non-metal contact surface of the roll from a sensor, and controlling the roll based on the received temperature.
Method for mitigating the effects of coil collapse on hot strip mill coils
A method is for mitigating the effects of coil collapse on hot strip mill coils. A hot strip coil is removed from the mandrel/downcoiler and pre-sagged to create an initial sag by allowing gravity cause the coil to sag in a first specific direction for a first period of time. Then, without coil eye support to limit sagging, the direction of the sag caused by the force of gravity is modified to a direction perpendicular to the first specific direction and gravity is allowed to sag the coil for a second period of time. The hot strip coil being cooled enough by the end of the second period of time such that the rate of sagging of the hot strip coil has become negligible.
