CUTTING TOOL WITH A CLAMP FOR SECURING A CUTTING INSERT TO A TOOL BODY OF THE CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool including a tool body with an insert seat and an associated clamp pocket, a cutting insert releasably mountable in the insert seat, a clamp received in the clamp pocket and a screw that extends with play through a through hole in the clamp and is engaged in a hole at the bottom of the clamp pocket, is provided. Upon tightening of the screw, the clamp will slide against an inclined guide surface in the slide pocket via a slide surface on the clamp, which will force the clamp to move transversally to the screw shaft towards the cutting insert such that a clamp protrusion on the clamp is moved into a recess in the cutting insert and clamping surfaces on the clamp are pressed tightly against corresponding contact surfaces on the cutting insert.
Turning insert
A turning insert includes a top surface, an opposite bottom surface, side surfaces connecting the top surface and the bottom surface and two opposite nose portions. Each nose portion includes a convex nose cutting edge, a first cutting edge and a second cutting edge. The convex nose cutting edge connects the first and second cutting edges. A bisector extends equidistantly from the first and second cutting edges. In a top view the first and second cutting edges on the same nose portion form a nose angle () of 70-85 relative to each other. Each nose portion includes a third convex cutting edge adjacent to the first cutting edge and a fourth cutting edge adjacent to the third cutting edge. In a top view the fourth cutting edge forms an angle () of 0-34 relative to the bisector.
Turning Insert
A turning insert includes a top surface, an opposite bottom surface, a reference plane located parallel to and between the top surface and the bottom surface, and a center axis extending perpendicular to the reference plane and intersecting the reference plane (RP), the top surface and the bottom surface. Side surfaces connect the top surface and the bottom surface. Three nose portions are formed symmetrically relative to the center axis. Each nose portion includes a first cutting edge, a second cutting edge and a convex nose cutting edge connecting the first) and second cutting edges. In a top view the first and second cutting edges on the same nose portion form a nose angle of 25-50 relative to each other. The distance from the first cutting edge to the reference plane varies in such a way that that this distance is decreasing at increasing distance from the nose cutting edge.

Tool-Holding Device for a Machining Tool and Method for Locking a Tool into a Tool-Holder
Tool-holding device (11) for a machining tool, comprising: a tool-holder body (13); a receiving part (15) defined in the tool-holder body (13); a retaining element (17) provided with a pair of mutually cooperating jaws (17a,17b); a female seat (19) between the jaws for an engaging male portion (21) of a machining tip (23), the jaws (17a,17b) being capable of taking a locking configuration, in which the engaging portion (21) of the tool (23) is firmly locked within the seat (19) of the retaining element (17), and a disengaged configuration in which the engaging portion (21) of the tip (23) can be detached from the retaining element (17); a moveable component (25) which bear the main load of holding the retaining element (17) in the receiving part (15) when the retaining element (17) is in the configuration in which it engages the tool (23).
TURNING CUTTING INSERT WITH CORNER CUTTING PORTION HAVING REDUCED NOSE ANGLE AND TURNING TOOL
A cutting tool has an insert holder and a cutting insert releasably attached thereto. The cutting insert has an insert edge which includes two nose cutting edges and a convex corner cutting edge which extends therebetween. The two nose cutting edges form a nose angle. The insert edge also includes two mid-side edges which are located further from the corner cutting edge than the nose cutting edges. The two mid-side edges form a mid-side angle. The nose angle is less than the mid-side angle.
