FLEXIBLE COUPLING FOR ATTACHING A COLLET TO A DRAW BAR
20170355024 · 2017-12-14 · ·

A flexible coupling for attaching a collet to a draw bar includes a draw bar having a first longitudinal axis and a first coupling portion. The first coupling portion includes two or more legs spaced apart from one another with each of the legs having first coupling surface formed thereon. The flexible coupling includes a collet having a second longitudinal axis and a clamping portion proximate one end of the collet. The collet includes a second coupling portion proximate a second end of the collet. The second coupling portion has a second coupling surface formed thereon and configured in a shape complementary to the first coupling surface so that the first coupling surfaces moveably engage the second coupling surface such that the first longitudinal axis and the second longitudinal axis are coaxial when an axial force is applied to the draw bar and the collet.

Collet chuck with special interaction between the collet and the clamping nut
20170348777 · 2017-12-07 ·

A collet chuck for clamping a tool shank, comprising a chuck body, a collet and a multi-part clamping nut consisting of a clamping ring and a threaded section rotatably connected to each other via rolling elements, otherwise connected in an interlocking manner, wherein the clamping ring and the collet comprise interlocking coupling elements designed such that the collet can be inserted into the collet housing through the central opening, facing away from the chuck body, of the clamping ring held on the chuck body, while the coupling elements move past each other, and then the coupling elements can be brought into engagement with each other by rotating the clamping ring relative to the collet, so that the clamping ring can transmit the forces applied to it by the threaded section during tightening to the collet via the coupling element and can drive the collet into the chuck body.

Micro Punch for Targeted Material Excision

Described are a micro punch cutting tool and associated method that can be used under a microscope to accurately excise a targeted piece of material on a micron or millimeter scale. An example device for targeted material excision from a tissue sample includes a support defining an opening and providing a region below the opening for positioning a tissue sample. A tissue stabilizer is receivable in the opening and defines a shape that complements a shape of the support. A cutting tool assembly receivable in the tissue stabilizer includes a hollow cutter having a bore and is movable relative to the tissue stabilizer to cause the cutter to excise material from the tissue sample when the tissue sample is positioned below the opening of the support. Movement of the cutting tool assembly is guided by a helical groove in the tissue stabilizer engaging a protrusion of the cutting tool assembly.

A holding sleeve has a sleeve body having multiple clamping slits, and an outlet portion. The clamping slits are defined longitudinally and radially in the outer surface, are arranged at even angular intervals and communicate with the knife hole. Each clamping slit has a first end and a lateral branch. The lateral branch extends laterally from the first end of the clamping slit and communicates with the clamping slit. The outlet portion is formed in the outer end of the sleeve body and communicates with the lateral branches of the clamping slits.

Blade retention mechanism for surgical instrument

A surgical apparatus which includes a handpiece having a passage. The retention assembly includes a pair of radially movable buttons, aligned in axially extending passages in communication with the passage and can engage with and cause rotational movement of a collet member assembly rotatably supported in the passage. The collet assembly includes rolling lock members which can be moved by the collet member from a lock position, in which the lock members are forced by the wall of the passage to extend inwardly of the collet member and an unlocked position, in which the lock members are aligned with a recess in the wall of the passage and are not forced to extend inwardly of the collet member. The surgical apparatus may find particular use with irrigation fluid, suction, and powering of a surgical tool. The passage may include a cutting blade retention assembly integrated in the passage.
