Adjustable cartridge assembly for cutting tool
A cutting tool includes a cartridge-receiving pocket, and an adjustable cartridge assembly mounted in the cartridge-receiving pocket. The adjustable cartridge assembly includes a cartridge with an insert-receiving pocket and a wedge. The wedge has planar surfaces formed at taper angles of between greater than zero degrees and less than or equal to about five degrees that contact the bottom wall of the cartridge to move a cutting insert mounted in the insert-receiving pocket of the cartridge in a direction of a central axis of the cutting tool. The planar surfaces are at different distances from a central axis of the wedge to place the wedge in a minus, nominal or plus orientation, respectively.

CUTTING TOOL
An object of the present invention is to provide a cutting tool capable of expanding a range in which adjustment work can be readily performed and reducing manufacturing cost. Provided is a cutting tool including: a cartridge to which a cutting member having a cutting edge is fixed; a body having at least one cartridge mounting part in which the cartridge is installed; and an adjustment plate installed between walls or a bottom surface constituting the cartridge mounting part and the cartridge, wherein the walls or the bottom surface of the cartridge mounting part has a recessed part for housing the adjustment plate.
ROTARY CUTTING TOOL
A rotary cutting tool is provided which, although it has a simple configuration, allows the arrangement of each cutting edge to be easily adjusted. A first cartridge mounting seat has an upper wall surface opposing an outer side surface of a cartridge and further has a first recessed part into which a protrusion is inserted and which comes into contact, at a bottom thereof, with a leading end of the protrusion. A second cartridge mounting seat has an upper wall surface opposing an outer side surface of a cartridge and further has a second recessed part into which a protrusion is inserted and which comes into contact, at a bottom thereof, with a leading end of the protrusion. A depth of the second recessed part is greater than a depth of the first recessed part. An amount of protrusion P of the protrusion is equal to or greater than the depth of the second recessed part.

ROTARY CUTTING TOOL HAVING AXIALLY SUPPORTED LEAD CUTTING INSERT AND A CONTINUOUS CUTTING EDGE
A rotary cutting tool has a cutting body and a plurality of cutting inserts, including a first insert removably secured in a first pocket and a second insert removably secured in a second pocket. The first pocket opens out at a forward end surface of the cutting body, having a seat surface with an axial support wall transverse thereto, and the second pocket is located axially rearward of the first pocket. The first insert has opposing front and back end surfaces, with a peripheral side surface extending therebetween which is in contact with the seat surface and the axial support wall. A first major cutting edge of the first insert axially overlaps with a second major cutting edge of the second insert, and in a side view of the cutting tool, a raised shoulder surface adjacent the axial support wall is at least partially obscured by the second insert.
COATED CUTTING TOOL
A coated cutting tool comprising a substrate and a coating layer formed on a surface of the substrate, the coating layer comprising a first laminate structure and a second laminate structure, wherein: the first laminate structure has a laminate structure in which predetermined compound layers of two kinds, each having a different composition, are laminated in an alternating manner; the first laminate structure satisfies a predetermined condition; the second laminate structure has a laminate structure in which a first compound layer comprising a predetermined oxide and/or oxynitride and a second compound layer having a predetermined composition are laminated in an alternating manner; and an average thickness of each compound layer which constitutes the first laminate structure, an average thickness of each compound layer which constitutes the second laminate structure, and a thickness of the coating layer in its entirety each fall within a predetermined range.

TOOL HOLDER HAVING POSITION ADJUSTMENT ARRANGEMENT AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool includes a tool holder, having a holder pocket with a pocket opening, and a cutting member releasably retained therein. The tool holder includes an adjustment cavity that includes circumferentially merging threaded and guiding bore portions. The tool holder further includes an adjustment arrangement that includes an adjustment member including a wedge adjustment portion and a guiding portion integrally formed therewith. The adjusting arrangement further includes an adjustment screw. The wedge adjustment portion is located in the pocket adjustment region and the guiding portion is located in the guiding bore portion and partially protrudes into the threaded bore portion. The adjustment screw is threadingly rotatable between a first rotated position and a second rotated position, and in the second rotated position the adjustment member, and thus the cutting member, is located closer to the pocket opening than in the first rotated position.
