INDEXABLE FACE MILLING CUTTING INSERT AND FACE MILLING CUTTING HEAD USING THE CUTTING INSERT
Disclosed is an indexable face milling cutting insert which comprises an insert body and a cutting body laminated on an upper surface of the insert body, and the insert body comprises multiple positioning side surfaces, an upper plane, and a positioning bottom surface; a projection of an edge of the positioning bottom surface, or an extension line thereof, on a rake face is intersected with a corresponding edge of the rake face, or an extension line thereof, to form a surface deflection angle and multiple flank faces are arranged between the rake face and the multiple positioning side surfaces, so as to avoid damaging the positioning side surfaces when a cutting edge is sharpened, thereby ensuring stability and long-term effect of a positioning reference, and a face cutting milling and a wiper face milling are applicable to a same face milling insert retaining slots.
ENDMILL BODY AND RADIUS END MILL
In an end mill body made of ceramic, a corner R rake face is formed in such a manner as to contain a point B and at least a region B, not a region A located on a side toward an end cutting edge. In other words, a first end portion of a cutting edge on a peripheral edge portion of the corner R rake face is formed on a peripheral edge of the region B of a corner R cutting edge, and a second end portion of the cutting edge reaches at least the point B. As a result, partial breakage of the corner R cutting edge is unlikely to occur in the course of cutting. That is, since the corner R rake face is formed in such a manner as to start from the first end portion located apart from a point A, which is the intersection of the end cutting edge and the corner R cutting edge, and such that the second end portion reaches the point B, a large cutting load is unlikely to be imposed on the starting point of the corner R rake face. Therefore, the corner R cutting edge is unlikely to be chipped.
Cutting tool
A cutting tool includes a shaft portion and a plurality of edge region groups. The ridgeline between the first rake face portion and the first flank face portion constitutes a first cutting edge portion. The ridgeline between the second rake face portion and the second flank face portion constitutes a second cutting edge portion. As seen from the direction perpendicular to a plane tangent to the outer peripheral surface, in a state where the central axis overlaps a first end on the front end side of the first cutting edge portion, the inclination angle of the first cutting edge portion relative to the central axis is larger than the inclination angle of a straight line relative to the central axis, the straight line connecting the first end to a second end on the front end side of the second cutting edge portion.
Compression milling cutter with indexable cutting inserts
A compression milling cutter includes a shank and a front cutting portion that terminates at a leading end of the milling cutter. The front cutting portion has a first circumferential row of one or more insert receiving pockets proximate a leading end of the milling cutter, and a second circumferential row of one or more insert receiving pockets, each insert receiving pocket configured to receive a respective indexable cutting insert. The cutting insert mounted in the first circumferential row has a positive axial rake angle, A, and the indexable cutting insert mounted in an insert pocket of the second circumferential row has a negative axial rake angle, B. Because of the different axial rake angles, chips generated during a machining operation flow in opposite directions, thereby creating a compression zone disposed between the first and second circumferential rows. This compression zone replicates the cutting action of a solid end mill, particularly when machining fiber reinforced plastic materials.
Milling insert and a milling tool
A milling insert for shoulder milling having s a positive basic shape and includes an upper side having a rake surface, a lower side including a planar bottom surface, a side surface extending around the periphery of the milling insert, and a cutting edge formed between the side surface and the rake surface. The cutting edge has at least a major cutting edge portion, a corner radius cutting edge portion, a ramping cutting edge portion, and a surface wiping cutting edge portion. The side surface includes an upper set of primary clearance surfaces and a lower set of secondary clearance surfaces having a plurality of planar secondary clearance surfaces, wherein the upper set of primary clearance surfaces forms an overhang protruding with respect to the secondary clearance surfaces and extending around the entire upper periphery of the milling insert.
